The art of the belch.

A recording i took on 04/26/2014, presumably on cassette tape, of an art installation in madison, wi titled "asylum," created by marina kelly and megan katz. To my knowledge, this is the only audio recording that exists of the soundscape, though if asked by kelly or katz i will respectfully take it down. "asylum" was a temporary art installation located in the tenney park passageway under east johnson street. From what i saw when i was there, it was just a speaker or two playing some ambient sounds. These sounds could have been generated based on environmental input, but due to lack of evidence i can't conclusively say that was indeed the case. I was in a bad mood on this recording so apologies for the negativity/language.

Some c0 16. 35hz sine drawed in audacity with mouse hand free with no correction of the irregularities, looping, an envelope drawed manually as well, like for the original graphical pixel art obscur principles, except some slight eq filtering.

This excerpt demonstrates a kind of gamaka (sphuritam) in carnatic music. Description-sphuritam: starting on a svara higher than its own position and quickly descending to its position which is repeated. This particular instance is sphuritam gamaka on m svara in raaga arabhi. Sung by: vignesh ishwar.

This sound is a katana sword being swung close to the microphone it was recorded in a gym. It was recorded using a zoom h1 with foam windscreen attached. The clip was cleaned up (removed air condition sound) in adobe audition cs6. You can hear some handling of the sword at some points. Some swings have a higher pitch than others but this is the real thing.

I walked from the hall in the exposition, human nature, then back to the hall and down the staircase from level 8 to 4. Place: aros, aarhus museum of artmicrophones: roland cs10-em binaural mounted in earequipment: zoom h4n pro. Setup: level 30.

This sound was made for the project besos: a noble ecosystem. The sound was recorded on the river side of the besos river. The sound was recorded with a leica camera cl and a zoom h4.
