Recorded in an almost empty train on a fairly even route section at a quite constant velocity, sitting in a cabin for six passengers with five empty seats, compartment door closed at around 8 pm. Recorded with a portable stereo recorder (zoom) set to 96000 hz and 24 bit.

Recorded with josephson c700s (output is soundfield w, x, and y channels) at 96 khz, 24 bit. Encoded to stereo nos with harpex. I recorded one usable minute of passing train, moving slowly through town. I thought the local engine served just one customer, a major metal scrap yard, but the half-dozen box cars on this engine don't fit that model. Considering the overall decrepit condition of american railways, this one isn't bad.

This field-recording was taken inside of a high-capacity wagon of the ic-train 2374 starting at the station darmstadt in direction of frankfurt. The wagon was rather empty, but two passengers can often be heard talking during this recording. Many different sounds and noises are heard during different driving situations of the train. The recording was started on 4th january 2023 at 10:23 cet shortly before the closing of the doors and the departure of the train in darmstadt. At 01:16 an announcement can be heard. The recording was made with the mid-prize smartphone huawei p10 lite.
