A drowsy, warm lazy hot day in mid-summer in the forest of the midwestern usa. As is the case around mid-july, the birds are not singing as much. Perhaps they are just exhausted from raising a family and wilting from the heat. The insect chorus ebbs and flows, like the ocean waves creeping up on the beach, and retreating back. Except, unlike the ocean which never stops moving, the insects will eventually stop singing and hibernate for the winter. I have always loved the sound of propeller-driven planes and their slow, molasses-like sound. That sound has always induced a melancholy touch to the recordings. To me, this drowsing plane symbolizes change -- even though the birds and plants are still in full growth, the end is near. . . In about four more weeks schools will resume, the emphasis for many will turn inward. Leaving the woods to deal with the transition. The droning plane, like ocean waves, symbolize change. . . In several months there woods will be drastically changed. Recording made on july 18, 2022 using sound devices mixpre 6 and the sennheiser mkh 8020 omnidirectional microphone. Ambient sound akin to the bridge of a starship. Muted background hum with an overtone of air conditioning ducts. Pseudo-random high pitched blips occupy the soundstage. Could be used as an ambient sound loop for hi-tech / science fiction interiors such as a laboratory, a control room, or the bridge of a spacecraft. Created with two instances of flstudio 3x osc. One kicking out a pair of sinewaves plus noise for the background susurus (hum) and ventilation sound. Second 3x osc is set to produce two interfereing square waves for the blips, squeaks and buzzes. The background was notch filtered and bandpassed to mellow out the humming sound and reduce hiss. The blips were processed with flstudio equo, stereo enhance, fruity delay2 and fl pan-o-matic vst. Each blip was pasted by hand in a seemingly random but not too unpleasant pattern.

A rather lengthy sound byte that i heavily edited to the point of being unrecognizable. It sustains a flat note with varying bass levels causing an unnerving effect or the listener or player. I had designed this track for a roleplay plot involving a cursed train station, the plot came out kinda rough and it fell through midway. . . But, the audio track i made came out good enough to post here like my first sound involving my transformers oc!. A recording of my mini-fridge that i split into two components - the hum (this) and the evaporator thing that makes all the drippy sounds. I separated them so people can change the volume of each element, since i noticed with my fridge that you can only really hear the hum if you're really close, but hear the drippy sounds from quite a distance away, even if they're really quiet. Recorded with a zoom h4n pro, used rx7 to separate the elements. As always, i've got the un-modified loop in my "raw recordings" pack.

A recording of my fridge from the interior. The high pitched squeaks are due to the freesound's preview conversion, they're are not present in the raw file. This is a recording i made on sunday november 4th 2012 of the gentle, droning sounds of insects that were singing in a marshy area near the shore of a small lake. This is a very typical ambiance of autumn in the southern portion of illinois. If you listen carefully, you'll hear another very typical fall sound, the cry of blue jays in the heavy woods which surround this lake. One of my favorite sound-scapes. I made this with my rugged and dependable handy zoom h4n recorder, using its built-in microphones. I literaly had it sitting on a small log only about 15 feet from the water's edge. Because the insects were not very loud, i did have to crank up my record volume to 86 on the scale of 100; this means you will hear a little bit of slight wind rumble, but all-in-all i think the recording paints a good picture of the early autumn landscape and everything slows down and winds down for the bitter winter ahead. Autumn is here and, to me, one of the most soothing of fall sounds is the wind blowing through the leaves of one of my favorite cottonwood tress, along with the lazy, nap-inducing sound of a propeller-driven plane slowly floating through robin-egg blue skies. This recording may sound a bit raw, because of the wind, but, i think it is nice to listen to. This was recorded using my handy zoom h4-n recorder and the microphone that i used is my trusty rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone.

This was designed for a short film whereas the subject is checked-out, mentally, and builds up before the 'snap' of a mental break. The room had a grandfather clock and basic evening white noise with the sound of internal blood flow quickly amped.

Just speeded up the whining to make it more urgent. Squealing drone that makes an i once used as intro if you just add some fade at the end. This is part of a pack that features noises made by a small malfunctioning house fan that's passed its primed. I have released my sounds into the public domain.
