I used the ben burtt technic to design this punch; mixing a whip tail sound with a the sound taken from hitting a jacket with a baseball bat. This is a recording near the entrance of a pachinko parlor (kind of slot machine casino in japan).

This is a 4 mic recording taken inside a pachinko parlor in akasaka, tokyo. There are so many loud machines and the background music is so loud that you can hardly make out individual sounds and the entire space is just a wash of noise. If you listen closely to this one you can hear some of the individual balls dropping. (when you play pachinko, you win metal balls which can be exchanged for cash later. ).

This is for a video game i was making, but i figured it would be a good idea to share this with everyone. This is supposed to be the sound of a wooden container being violently smashed open, such as a barrel or a box, or even possibly a wooden wall. I borrowed a few sounds from the site, tweaked a little of course, and also added some powerful white noise effects to indicate a hard smash. With some layering with twigs cracking and pieces of wood falling on the floor, i think it sounds pretty authentic. . . Or as authentic as it can get!.
