This is a basic drum loop featuring a performance on the udu, a middle eastern hand drum. The stereo sample actually consists of the same rhythmic patttern performed on two individual drums of different pitches assigned to the left and right stereo channels. This loop would work well for a bollywood-style production or anything requiring a little bit of mid-eastern flair. Enjoy! feedback welcome.

Experiments with ornament & crime "viznutcracker, sweet!" mode into braids generated several minutes of digital glitch sounds. These were then edited into a morphagene reel (and one-shot sample pack). The sounds are useful in isolation. Single splices can be looped and stretched into drones, triggered as percussion effects, etc. These sounds also work as a glitchy performance pool, and can be layered and juggled through a morphagene performance.

Microphones: a pair of dpa 4006 microphones with ua0777 nose conesinterface: focusrite saffire liquid 56. Studio room: w:2,5m x d:2. 0m x h:2,8m. Each file contains 3 techniques: single tone, double and ringing bell.

Recorded on samson q2u - the mic was behind the drum surface, and it was struck by my finger lightly on the other side, while being held at a wooden handle. There's some light paint on the drum surface, which may be made of synthetic (plastic?) material, and the rim is wire. It was a gift - unsure of its origins or nature, but it sounds cool.

50 claps made in blok modular from scratch. Supposed to sound very unrealistic/dry/drum machine-like as possible so you don't have to sample the real thing. Some of these use asymmetric waveshaping which adds dc offset (0 hz noise) so you may want to highpass the crustier ones. While fooling around with the beat repeat plugin in ableton one day, i noticed it would do this cool rhythmic decrescendo whenever i would hit "repeat". But not when i would export! so i just kept messing around with a simple hi-hat loop with audacity running in the background. I've cut down and sampled this recording many times, think it's time i let it go to see what the internet can do with it ;).

Files labeled "ms" correspond to mid/side recordings. This allows for adjustment and separation of the stereo image. To makes the most of these samples, i suggest you do, or the stereoness could sound exaggerated. Some raw one-shots from my doepfer a-100 modular synthesizer recorded and edited using ni maschine. In my ears they sound way better with a bit of compression, but i thought the unprocessed files would be more useful. Naming is super vague. Recorded back in may 2014. This is a series of sounds created for spitfire audio's make music day 2020 #spitfiremmd2020 it is a plastic drum, a springy pot rack and a big metal chip bin. There are both harmonic and enharmonic sounds here. The bin as a wonderful resonance and a lot of low end. This is a mono recording through a sennheiser 416 and an rme pre-amp. Enjoy!.

I used cheap mallet sticks made of rubber to play on a ride cymbal. Not really a good tremolo or whatever you call it, but it has its moments!recorded with a tascam dr 100. This is a synthesized hi-hat groove. It is basically an on two layers sequenced noise-patch. One layer to create the "closed hat" effect and another one to create the "open hat" effect. Recorded with my epi sg through the walrus slo pedal on dream setting into the focusrite 2i2 interface and into reaper. The bass was recorded with a squier mini-bass through a behringer bxl1800 amp and into reaper. Did a pitch change on the guitar and no quantizing as i like the 'push/pull' feel of the human tempo. This is a full acoustic drumkit sampled at multiple velocities with drum sticks and brushes, it was recorded in a small jazz bar at a local music school, i recorded this a long time ago with a zoom h1 portable recorder. It would still need some sorting and tweaking to build a soundfont or hydrogen drumkit which i want to do in the future but it will probably not be anytime soon.

Samples of the vintage korg mini pops 45 drum machine. No processing applied here but a very gentle fft based noise reduction. After all, i figured background noise was part of the machine's sonic identity. No patterns here, since that would have taken forever, just the individual sounds. Some of them alone, some of them combined. Recorded mono with a zoom h2n thru the machine's "amp" output.

Thought this would make the perfect, very unique style to use drums as filler background music during a very important statement or speech. This track is a little over two minutes long and has just enough soft beats to not distract the listener to what is being said. This was recorded using a yamaha keyboards guitarpop style drum rhythm, audacity & a little improvisation. I must admit. . . I like what i hear and i think - so will you!. No acknowledgement to me is necessary but maybe a shout-out to yamaha would seem in order.

Created and formatted for the make noise morphagene, this reel is divided into three sections with like sounds clustered together for ease of navigation. The first group of splices are glitchy, percussive, experimental, modular snippets. The middle third consists of melodic and chordal washes. The final cluster is a series of field recordings taken from a recent trip to beirut, lebanon, with a cut up inspired splice at the very end. Collectively, i hope this sonic material will inspire the user to mangle, manipulate, and deconstruct to taste.
