I think this recording was made in 2016 using a zoom h6 and a rode ntg4 mic or possibly the x/y capsule that comes with the recorder. Note on the recording: there seem to be some silences at a couple of points. Something probably happened in the rendering. I probably won't do anything to fix this as it's just a few seconds out of 18 minutes of audio.

Ringmodulated inversion of my speech from the file https://freesound. Org/people/kb7clx/sounds/648443/ invertedspeechcq. Wav. I took the raw recording and used goldwave's mechanize effect to translate my voice to a center frequency of 14khz. I then demodulated it first at 10. 6 and then 10. 2khz meaning that what comes out is essentially the opposite sideband, offset by 3. 4 and 3. 8khz respectively. 3khz just didn't sound as good. The first i filtered with a low pass of 2. 9khz, the second was filtered to below 3. 4khz to emulate a communications receiver passband. I am speaking upside down as described in this video. Being blind i can't see their diagram, but i've got my own by ear intuitive method, keeping in mind that oo and ee are farthest from each other, all other vowells get closer the closer they are to the middle of the human voice frequency range. A peaceful, drowsy-ish recording of a midwestern usa large field bordered by heavy forest. This was recorded in mid summer, on a very hot day. Temperature was 90 degrees, but, with 45% humidity it was manageable. The good thing about this recording is i was far enough away from humanity's engines to get no cars, no boats, no loud. . . . Anything. Well, except the insect chorus. This is the time of year in illinois that autumn is getting imperceptibly closer. The skies are clearer blue with less humidity. . . A few trees had red leaves. Nature taking a breather. Recorded at 2:30pm on thursday august 26, 2022 using a mixpre 6 recorder. Left channel: rode nt5 cardioid microphone. Right channel: sennheiser mkh 416 microphone.

This is a short, dissonant loop made with a neapolitan mandolin. This has been recorded with an sm7b into a rme interface, and quantized to 148bpm in logic pro x. This is a dry file with no other processing. I used it on a couple of old-school hip-hop beats to trigger effects or completely butchering with distortion for some extra textures. I thought it might come in handy to rap producers out there! if you do something with it, i would love to check it out!. I was recording an acoustic version of a song called "closer" by my band dead rituals, and a friend let me borrow this old neapolitan mandolin. I made some random noises by picking behind the strings at the end of a take, and i decided to sample it!.

A gunshot sound effect recorded for a high school production of the musical heathers. It was recorded on a zoom h1 and was made by a theatrical cap gun. I recorded it at a distance of about 5 feet and then again at a distance of about 40 feet from the audience and allowed the sound to reverberate both times. Then i duplicated both and mixed in both original sounds on top of each other, plus each sound pitched down 1 octave and the 40-feet away recording at 2 octaves down, plus the closer recording pitched one octave up. We then added and adjusted reverb in audacity and adjusted the sync of all the clips to be aligned, and adjusted the mix to make it sound as real as possible.

I just recorded this on my phone whilst i was chilling in the conservatory atont the back of my house. . . The heavens literlly opened for a very heavy shower of. . . You will hear the rain on the roof and i move the phone closer and further away from the roof so to get a good soundrange. . I also open the door and let the recording pick up the natural outside showering and rain gushing over the gutters hitting the patio and back step. . This sounds as if it were staged by hollywood, but it actually did happen, i swear! birds chirp away to set the scene, but a beefy thunder roll intrudes. Soon after, raindrops begin to fall as if on cue. Theres a little handling noise click in the begining that is easy to crop out if you like. The recording is unedited. At 1:35 i move the mics closer to the deck so you can hear the splashing. At about at 3:10 i you’ll hear a different timbre as i move away from the rain and under an awning. About 3:45 the rain settles down and the birds start chirping again. Hopefully there are some useful segments in here. Recorded with a dead cat on a tascam dr-05 at 48khz 24 bit, then compressed with “lame --preset insane --scale 10” to make up for the low gain i used (i was afraid a thunderclap would engage the limiter). I wanted to create a sound that is scary. I was inspired by sounds for jumpscare sequences in horror movies. So here i generated an audio track and i added a « batterie risset » on it. It gaves a sound that sounds like a bell so i duplicated it 3 times more on 3 different audio tracks. Once done, i accelarated and turn up the volume on the second audio track a bit more compared to the first audio track. I repeated it on the 2 other tracks to give the impression that something is getting closer to us. After that, i generated a new audio track with a tone, i put it on overlap with the forth track and i highly turn up the volume to create a saturation in order to strongly surprise the listener. To finish, i checked that the final mixed track was not saturated, except the sequence i wanted to be saturated, and i exported the sound.

Several years back my older brother stumbled upon a bunch of old family reel to reel films and sat down one evening to project them on a wall and digitize them. This is the sound of that process. What you can hear, i imagine, is the noise of the projector in the left channel and the sound of the reels in the right channel. I've been obsessed with the sounds of the infinite variation in old analog hardware. As a sound designer, that infinite variation is often sought after but rarely, or accurately, reproduced through digital files in various libraries. Of if they are, they're often too short to cover whatever scene i am trying to fill. On the surface it's just noise but if you listen closer it's this wonderful cacophony of overlapping and repeating sounds that are always looping but never quite identical on each rotation. It was ripped from youtube using audio hijack at 48khz/16bit, but due to youtube re-encoding things as youtube does, it's nowhere near the source. It's still, in my opinion, a sound worth sharing. This is a quick fire sound i made using qubodup's "swing 25" public domain/cc0 upload on this site. It's a bamboo stick swinging, which i layered and toyed with to get the results here. For those curious, here are the steps. * i took the file into reaper, and slowed the file's playback rate to 31% of the original. * i then duplicated the file three times, for a total of 4 tracks. * track 1 (lowish gas-burner sound):- reverb (drum-room impulse response, a medium-sounding reverb with a slight deadness to it. In free impulse loader reverberate le, stretched impulse to 150% and set attack time to 0. 218s). - eq (-8db bandpass near 200hz, rising back to 0 by the 1k mark. Low-pass applied at 5. 8khz). * track 2 (lowest of sounds, like a bassy gas-burner):- chorus effect. That's it. (specifically acon digital multiply, a free plugin, set to the "romantic" preset). * track 3 (not as low as track 2, but closer to track 2 than 1)- reverb (a large hall impulse response. No adjustments, ie. No increased attack or stretching like for track 1. ). -chorus doubler (free plugin duet, preset: "basic doubler. " same effect as if i had doubled the track and pitched one up 6 cents. ). - chorus (free plugin acon digital multiply, preset: "romantic. "). * track 4 (most flame-thrower, whooshy of tracks. )- reverb (impulse response says "hall medium," but it's a thick, even echo from start to finish. Makes the sound go from its default "whoosh" to a flamethrower noise. - chorus doubler (duet again, preset: basic doubler). - chorus (acon digital multiply, preset: "romantic. "). Master bus:. - compressor (tdr kotelnikov mastering compressor, the free successor to the tdr feedback compressor ii. Preset: punchy. A recording of the peaceful mid-autumn woods here in the midwest usa. I recorded this on november 15 2022 using a sony pcm d-100. In the northern hemisphere now, days now are much shorter, and much colder. Which means all of our energetic summer warblers and other migrants have long gone south, and are no doubt lounging around in a palm tree or something just gorging on insects. Here is the midwest woods? sure the summer birds are gone, but, the beauty of this season is that now you can hear the birds that never leave us. No matter how brutal the winter is, the blue jays, the black-capped chickadees, the many species of woodpeckers and the belted kingfishers never leave. This creates a different, but beautiful soundscape in the woods. For this particular recording, since i've found through years of roaming the woods, birds have a tendancy to be near water, i placed the recorder on a creekbank about 15 feet from a shallow creek. Now of course i could have gotten closer to the creek but by now the entire woods is a carpet of leaves -- this very slow-moving creek included. Which means the leaves had accumulated on thevery still creek water itself and i was concerned if i stepped on the leaves--thinking it was solid ground underneath, i would instead be "treated" to an ice cold pair of shoes and socks!. Among the highlights of this recording are:00:00:00 starting off with the loud blue jays1:56 black-capped chickadees with their active musical trills3:55 the very large and very loud pileated woodpeckers8:41--8:56 then again starting at 10:05 and running through10:40 the beautiful belted kingfisher with it's staccato-likerasp.
