My forklift recorded using my phone at work. I just cut out and muted most of the ambience using goldwave (http://www. Goldwave. Com/) to make it more just the hydraulics. If you cut out sections, scramble them and fool around with the speed in the sound, i think you can get a great variety of pneumatic and robot-sounding sounds out of it.

Operating my washing machine (front loader, brand: indesit). This reflect the full circle of a washing process from turning the control knob to the typical “clack” when the machine is finished and the look is once again released. All the intermediate steps like washing, spinning and so on, are shorten in time (otherwise this would be a 50min sound clip). But you can loop all those sounds very well. A baler machine being used at a recycling centre. The baler goes through a full cycle from start to finish and is generally used to compress cardboard into small cubes which can then be recycled. 04-21-2013 - chainsaw cutting:sunday, april 21, 2013: had to take care of some fallen trees; seemed wise to record it. This chainsaw is brand new. 45cc recording taken at a distance of 30 feet and is unfortunately tarnished at the front with an ambulance siren. Recording gear: zoom h2/n @ 44. 1k/16bit using built-in xy microphones.

A technical problem i had with my technics stereo cassette desk rs-5 where playback would deliver this fading squarewave at maximum volume. Apparently, it could have been an issue with the tape header wearing out. Thought i might as well upload it here, as i'm not sure anyone will be able to create this sound again. Note, this sound was de-amplifiied by 10 db in audacity 3. 1. 3. Simply put, the raw file was incredibly loud. If you're curious enough, you can increase it back up to its original volume, though i wouldn't advise it.

Amount of sounds recorded on the field : a construction site of a power plant where i worked. Sounds of tools and electrical devices, some motors, ventilation, people talking, metallic sounds (pieces of metal structures, doors, pipes which i played drums with), sounds of shoes with rubber outsole. Sounds mostly from the inside and a bit outside. Sometime the quality is not the best as i hid my recorder.

As these are recorded using binaural in-ear mics, i purposefully attempt not to turn my head to keep the sound clean and coming from the same direction. Of course, if you don't want binaural audio you can always easily convert to mono. This is a recording of me approaching a soda machine in my apartment complex, swiping my credit card in the new, handy-dandy credit card slot, and dispensing a coke zero (in case you really needed to know).
