Needed the exceptionally specific sound of putting an old book into an old hiking backpack. This is that sound. The recording starts with me the backpack off, before placing the book into the backpack and throwing the backpack back over my shoulder. Backpack description:an old-ish (likely 60's) hikers backpack with a metal "seat" that folds out. Made out of wool, leather, metal and the inside is plastic (a thick plastic bag that keeps everything dry). All straps are made of leather and metal that makes a very distinct jangly sound. Book description:this is an 1841 (handled with great care) edition of "hegel's logik" hardcover with a leather spine. *no credit needed, but would love it if you shared your creation, if you use this sound!.

This recording was made in the afternoon during a rainshower under my carport in louisiana. The rain is striking three different surfaces in this track: cement, roofing and plantlife. Now, i'm no pro, nor is my equipment (olympus ws-310m w/ built in mic), so discerning these different sounds is difficult. You can hear the dripping from rain: fast drip in the background of this track. However slight, there is also a noticeable electronic note which is simultaneous with the water striking these surfaces. You can also hear slight rustling sounds that could be wind or my shirt moving near the mic (i was wearing the device on a lanyard). The file is wav, recorded in stereo at 16 bit at 44. 1mhz.

Ambisonic four channel b-format recording recorded with the zoom h2n in albuquerque, new mexico. *note: recorded with zoom h2n ambisonic b-format (no z track), airplane cabin with passenger chatter. *note: you will need to decode this b-format ambisonic file with a plug-in such as the surroundzone2 which allows you to decode the file to a surround, stereo, or mono format. Also note that these are fuma b-format files converted from ambix format.

Rear channels of a 4ch-surround recording of the interior atmo of a small airbus passenger airliner (a lufthansa flight from london heathrow to berlin tegel). In the onset, you hear the steady drone of the jets, people talking, coughing, sneezing, newspapers rustling and notebook computers being typed on. Now and then, passengers and stewardesses pass by the aisle. Near the end, a signal bell sounds, and the drone of the jets takes on a perceivably higher tone, shortly after which the landing in berlin is announced, first in german, then in english. Recorded with a zoom h2, the mics (rear) set to 120° dispersion.

Autumn forest wind. Heavy, fast gusty in tall pine trees. Some birds and raindrops. Soundscapes of natural white noise of moderate intensity. Some are stagnant or static and with few birds. The presents of the colourful red and yellow dry leaves that is still on the trees, creates the noise of the wind with rustling whispers. Is a constantly form of natural white noise that is always changing and evolving. These recordings is from my third attempt. I think it is very difficult to record the “spirit” and unique sound of the wind. This is pure natural wind sounds (no layering, no post-processing, no synthesizers). Originally recorded at 24 bit sony dat tcd-d7 on a sony ecm-909 microphone. Recorded in sweden september of 2007 in a wet cold beautiful colourful forest, with all kind of trees, far away from any traffic or human sounds.

I was out testing new gear and couldn't remove the mics from my rucksack strap to avoid picking up the rustle of my clothing or my occasional heavy breathing. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. Clean, dry recording of a roughly half-filled metal can (the ribbed kind used for most canned food - probably steel, tin, or a blend of the two) containing dry oatmeal being shaken. A variety of forces and speeds were used to create a diverse assortment of sounds. Originally recorded specifically for canned oatmeal sounds, but could easily work for shaken cans containing most kinds of tiny, dry granules such as rice, nuts, grains, etc. A metal can was used for the unique, metallic timbre it produces - a glass jar or plastic container would sound different. Recorded with a behringer xm8500 directly into a steinberg ur22c interface at 48khz, 32-bit float. True 32-bit, not just 24-bit upconverted.

Recording of parakeets being loud in springfield park in easy london at 7:30am in november. Recorded on a small olympus device, set next to an open sleeve of stale saltines. You can hear her in the plastic packaging grabbing mouthfuls and chewing the crackers all up. She dips into the sleeve of crackers 3 or 4 times in this recording and smacks her chops after eating it all. Sorry about her collar chiming as dog's tags tend to, i just had to record that big mouthed crunch. I've removed the loud plastic rustling sounds, to focus more on the crunching sounds as she munches on snack crackers. Great for dog food or puppy chow commercials or for a film of a beast eating at charred crispy remains. This was recorded during a harsh storm here i stockholm. Harsh winds blowing thru a small forest. Details such as leaves rustling and hard stormy winds are key components in this recording. It sounds like a storm is approaching what do you think?. I honestly don't remember what i did in post. . . I think i removed alot of bass/rumble, added an expander to remove some unwanted noise to help the winds and leaves to stand out. I probably used rx to clean up some unwanted noises. Equipment:zoom h5 + sony ecm 6080s condenser mic. This was a test to see how the stereo configuration on the ecm 6080s sounded like. I really like it but i would prefer an ab configuration with 2 dpa 2011 or even 2 4060. . . I like the sound it was able to capture even if it may be a little to "centered". I probably will try to use it for my future hiking trips to capture rivers and general ambiances, if i get something special i will upload them here. Hope you like it.

Where we live the fireworks laws are pretty lax so people go crazy with them. Here is a recording from the day before independence day (yesterday) as people were blowing up part of their arsenal ahead of time. In a few hours i will be recording as things get really crazy. Our neighbors on three sides will light off the thousands of dollars of fireworks that they have purchased. Many of them are illegal (purchased from indian reservations) so there will be some big booms. Back to this recording. It is recorded with my "fake head" binaural setup, hanging from a tripod at the crest of the garage roof. There is a tree a few feet away and a light breeze is rustling the leaves. Here is a bit of a timeline:. 0:00 kids across the street light off a few fireworks4:05 the neighbors across the street were having a party, and the guests begin to leave. 6:30 the guest of honor honks and yells "love you" as she drives away. 8:00 the kids across the street go inside. Now all you hear are fireworks in the distance, all over town. 32:17 someone lights what must be a million firecrackers. They continue until 51:20 - 19 minutes!!!.

Especially if you make it a habit of getting out all year long and exploring nature, autumn can be a much-needed change in sensory soundscape. . . . After a busy spring listening to the many different warblers which come to visit and a busy summer immersed in the busy sounds of life----both human and natural----autumn's subtle, quiet muted soundscape can be almost like a re-birth for the ears and the soul. The insects, which had taken over center stage since august, are still singing---though now with a quieter volume and a more even sleep and though-inducing tempo. . . . . . . . Brisk winds from the north can be heard more clearly now----swishing, rustling the weedy, tan edges of fields. . . . . Hinting at the bite of much colder masses of canadian air waiting on deck for their turn in the months of november, december and january. . . I made this recording on the evening of october 4th 2014 at the edge of a field which was bordered by thick stands of oaks and pines of a major national forest. . . . . I couldn't help but pretend i was linus waiting in the pumpkin patch for the great pumpkin to arrive!. Recording made with my marantz pmd661 and a rode ntg-2 shotgun microphone on a tripod about 3 feet above the ground. My input volume was 6. I hope you enjoy this soundscape as much as i do.
