I recorded the sound of my dog's collar using a zoom h4n recorder and a rode m3 microphone. This would be a good sound used in the background in an outdoor scene. I can imagine this recorded noise starting off soft and gradually getting louder to indicate a dog walking by before it softens up and gradually trails off as the dog gets further and further away.

Recording of builders preparing a construction site near my house for new development by breaking up a parking lot with a large jackhammer or percussive drill. Recorded from the next lot over, so there is a fair amount of ambient noise (e. G. , from nearby traffic), but the bits with the machine cut through that pretty well.

I combined a lot of fx from this site to make a huge explosion with a large aftermath and ringing in the ears- to make it a more 'cinematic' moment, i have a build up in reverse to the moment, a pause, then the explosion. Rubble and glass fall as the listeners' ears ring from the explosion.

I took the audio of this robin chirping from a video i was making in our rural garden. I could see a robin singing away high up in an oak tree across the road from our house. I have taken out some of the neighbourhood noise but apart from that this is the audio directly off the cam corder.

I like to put special attention into not only the sounds and rhythms used in my work, but also the shape of the tracks itself when looked at in an audio editor. These sci-fi synth sweeps were created by manipulating white noise with filter sweeps and other effects and then using noise reduction to remove the underlying white noise.
