(i'll hopefully be driving there as soon as i get my license. ) listen closely for ambient creaking, kids chit-chatting, and mild footsteps as the bus makes two stops (on this recording) on certain stops. Under a canal bridge, 2 barges pass. The first one does have a radio on (the music will be subject to copyright control) but i can't tell what the song is. After they've gone we hear the water lapping and one or two people talking. Some traffic in the background and a motorbike leading into the first barge.
This is the sound of a kubota three-cylinder diesel. Between 57 seconds and 1:15 it was being driven. The low speed was 600 rpm and it only goes to 2500, a surprise to me. They made me drive it in "turtle. " i was not trusted with "bunny. ".

This is the sound of an inland vessel on river rhine, near mannheim, germany. You can hear the rhythmic and fluctuating vibrations of the diesel engine. Seems to be an older one. Unfortunately i oriented my zoom h2n wrongly (90° to the right). So most of the noise appears on the left ear.
My old rebuilt cj5 warming up and driving away. If you amplify the tail end you can hear thejeep faraway amidst the recorder noise. Recorded in mountain view ca with a zoom h2h recorder. Amplified, and noise reduced with audacity.
