2016-06-01clear creek metro parkrockbridge, ohio. In late spring 2016, seventeen-year cicadas emerged in a section of the united states that includes eastern ohio. The cicadas crawl out of the ground, shed their skins, and climb up into the trees. One cicada makes a loud and distinctive sound, but a whole group of them creates a dull roar. This recording was made on the cemetery ridge trail at clear creek metro park in rockbridge, ohio. I was standing some distance from the cicada sounds, trying to capture the pervasive roar from a distance. Sound recorded using the built-in mic on an iphone 5.

The sound of a construction worker operating a concrete road saw on a rainy day is heard in this recording. The recording begins with the saw already in operation, then is shut off and shortly restarted. He makes a couple of passes on the section of road he is working on and turns the machine off. Not that great of a recording, but this is the loud sound of hundreds of cicadas in a tree outside my home in nashville, tennessee, in 2011. These are 13-year cicadas which emerge in large numbers every 13 years in summertime. Recorded with an iphone.

Recorded in kanawha state forest in west virginia on a dr70r with shotgun mic. Some clean up and noise reduction with rx8 in reaper. It's a small mountain creek but it's pretty prominent in the sound, i'm about 10 feet away. I also have a version where i bring down creek noise, check the profile.

A solitary wolf howls in the cooper creek drainage, wrangell - st. Elias national park. The creek, itself, is an aufeis-filled reverberate acoustic environment.

This is a recording i made of the ambience at our local diner one man band-- it's a staple of our local culture and still maintains a, "50s diner" kind of atmosphere-- something you can feel in the air when you visit the place-- i hoped to capture that dynamic with this recording-- the sound of utah-- something lost in time and yet so progressional.
