Just having some fun with the 6 inches of snow that we received. The first part of this is me walking/breaking some ice that had formed in a low area and then me walking on snow, which has a frosty glaze on top of it. Recorded with the handy/zoom h-4n recorder using its built-in microphones. The built-in microphones can be adjusted to pick up sound from 90 degrees around the microphones to 180 degrees. For this recording, i had them on 180 degrees. *note, you will also -- if you listen carefully -- hear a male robin singing in a tree. Pretty unique combination - the snow and ice being crunched with the typical sound of spring in background. He must have been one tough bird!.

Featured sounds are footprints breaking through ice and crunching in the snow underneath, icicles being scraped across the icy snow surface, and bits of ice being thrown across the ice-covered snow surface and skittering away.

Recording of parakeets being loud in springfield park in easy london at 7:30am in november. This was an unintentional recording as i was testing out some new gear, this meant that i wasn't able to unclip the mics from my rucksack straps and avoid picking up the rustle of my clothes and some breathing. A train and canal boat engines can be heard in the background. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is no processing to this recording other than to ‘normalize’ the levels. I do not require any credit or attribution. Ambience of a night in december. It snowed earlier in the day, with freezing rain after. In this you can hear icy trees crackle as they sway in the wind. A block away, motorists are passing by. Some people yell out. A one-note wind chime is dinging, sometimes another wind chime sounds. Some ice falls, and various other little things happen. . .
