This is a variation on a guttural growl i made to depict some giant bears in power armour. I recorded myself with a zoom h1 and then fiddled with pitch shifts etc to get to this big cat noise (well, that was what i was aiming for).

I was surprised that this came out so well, an awesome water-down-the-drain sound in my very own kitchen sink. A plastic dishpan was tipped and held there until the water exited. Quite a roar, unmodified except that it is contained in the dish washing file.

A dragon roaring. I created this effect for a production of shrek. I recorded several takes of an actress roaring, and mixed some of them together, adding eq, distortion, and reverb to create the resulting effect. Recorded with an sm-57. Actress: nicole lewis.

Something i threw together for a personal project i was working on. I couldn't find any high quality samples of a dragon so i decided to make my own. One of the "bull" sounds i used in one play in my theatre. I recorded human voice with one of our actors using shure sm81 and popkiller. Recording software: garageband. Then processed the recordings with adobe audition cs 6, by lowering the pitch, adding reverb and distortion. Can be used as agressive bull, monster, etc.

All my sounds were created for an upcoming motioncomic i created called: madagascar: alex's story. . . I did not create these from scratch, but instead, remixed stock sounds of different roars, growls, breathing, etc. And fiddled with their settings until i got a sound i felt satisfied with. I thought the best thing to do with them after the project was done is to share. So, no need to give me credit. I put this monster roar together for a play i was directing. It comes from several public domain animal sounds edited with nero wave editor.

Enormous pumps running at at tva hydroelectric facility at elder mountain, tennessee. Very loud machine sounds, good for factories, jet airplanes, and other heavy industry situations. There is some talking at the beginning, but after 20 or 30 seconds, it's a very clean recording. Made with an iphone.

Let me join 'thunder club. ' gray sky suddenly turned to be wild, and began to roar. I hastily connected a mic (ae5100) into fr-2, and recorded it. By the way, sound of thunder is one of the most difficult sources of all, i guess.

The rumbling roar of an approaching freight train then the whistle and passing cars. Some good screeching from the metal. The train passes and fades. Recorded pretty close but with trees in between.

5 individual sounds created for a cyclops monster in a project that was cancelled before any real sound design could begin. This sound was created by recording various vocal noises and importing them into pro tools. Each vocal take was then pitch shifted down by -24 semitones and duplicated into 4-5 layers. These layers were processed individually using techniques such as reverse reverb, distortion and eq to emphasise different aspects of the creature's roar. The final sound is a result of all these layers playing simultaneously.

This is a short sample from a noise track i just completed. It sounds a lot like someone screaming/roaring into a microphone, but it's actually a roland juno-6 played through various fx pedals (boss metal zone, boss xtortion, boss me-30 on ring mod setting, danelectro fish & chips, and a sprinkling of various other fx pedals throughout the recording). The air show highlights each year's canadian national exhibition in toronto, ontario, canada. The army airplanes make a fantastic noise. This short recording captures surprised people when the planes go right above them.

I made this sound with some recordings of me (basically being a dork) coughing, growling, snorting, blowing into the microphone and more. It would be a great sound for a game or animation or movie, whatever you want. It would be great if you credit me, but it isn't necessary.
