Walking and running on grit/sand.

Small rocks tumbling down a steep hill. We got in the van and drove down a rural road. On the side of that road, we found land with its topsoil removed, stripped also of its plants, but there were lots of rocks and a small cliff where rocks could tumble down. The location where this audio was recorded in arkansas is shown in a video of our family adventure. We found where whittington creek enters a man-made underground tunnel in the city of hot springs. Recorded sand on a large piece of paper being dragged across a rubberized dance floor (marley). Space had a twenty foot ceiling. Recorded with a tascam im2 stereo condenser microphone and ipod touch. This version has longer, drawn out drags.

The sound of barking geckos (ptenopus garrulus) recorded in the desert at sesriem, near sossusvlei, namibia. At sunset, the geckos all around us started "barking". It's really more of a chirping sound, made by the males, hiding in their burrows but hoping to attract mates. Recorded with tascam dr2d. .

I work in movie production and have had the damndest time finding basic blowing wind, dang it. So here, created by my mouth on a shure mic, is some wind. The kind that blows across the sw american desert. No reverb, raw, basic.

I'm back with another binaural. I am attempting to capture the sounds that remind me of the places i have visited. This is a recording of fuertaventura, in the canary islands, inland in the desert, morning with the wind blowing the sand, desert mountains all around just like the wild west. I upgraded my binaural mics to roland cs-10em from my homemade ones. I'm happy if you can notice the difference. I like that they are combined mics and earphones with little windbooms. Files are recorded in:24-bit 96khz. Wav. They are as big and as high quality as i can make. Please comment :).

Ocean waves crashing onto the beach at three distances, close, near, far. There is a little automobile rumble in the background for the "near" and "far" section. In the "close" section you can hear the water being absorbed into the sand.
