I used ableton's:. - grain delay (spray: 80ms, frequ: 43 hz, rndpitch: 3. 19, fdb: 65, wet: 70%)- compressor with very slow release as kind of an amp-follower- carefully adjusted gate with 111ms release- very short simpledelay- overdrive- short reverb. I'm driving a renault duster with manual transmission (hand brake, ignition, start, drive 10 minutes, open windows, close windows, stop, turn off the engine). Recorded on the sony pcm d-100 (it's lying on the front passenger seat).
A 22 minute bus ride, almost silent. Only some passengers getting on and off, very short discussions with the driver and all basic sounds you can hear inside a bus. I guess this will leave you a lot of possibilities. Recorded with olympus ls-p4 onboard microphones.
The drone has a form of pattern repeating every 2 minutes. But other thing are vaguely linked to this pattern. The heart of this patch is intellijel quadra + expansion. I'm using 3 oscillators and noise. I add some character to the sound with a driver pedal (boss bd-2).
Inserting a 5. 25-inch floppy disk into a micropolis 1053 i metafloppy floppy-disk drive. That's the sliding sound at the beginning. The second knock-knock type of sound is the press-down-and-hook drive latch being closed. The micropolis 1053 is a two-drives unit for s-100 bus early computers. This sound was recorded on the upper floppy-drive.
