A boat gently bumps against a small dock or pier.

Recording of a lake at winter hill with slight wind, creating waves against the bridge over it. Recorded with a rode ntg4+ using a zoom h4n.

I synthesized this by making white noise, then applying a bandpass filter, and finally applying a wah-wah filter thing at a very low freq. In audacity. .

Stereo recording of waves on a sandy beach, recorded from the shelter provided by some rocks, with a faint engine hum from a large ship in the far background. Tide was about one hour after turn and coming in. Recorded across an estuary. Average level about -18db. Recorded using h2 zoom with front microphones (90 degree). 6db of amplification in audacity.

I was out on the marsh edge when i could hear a strange noise in the dark. It turned out to be ice breaking up in the tidal flow. A great test for the new pair of em172 mics. In the parabolic, olympus ls-5 recorder.

Sounds of tides in britain, france.

Gentle sea wash recorded on at the beach about half an hour away from my house. The audio was captured with a high quality sennheiser shotgun microphone (i forget the model sorry) into a tascam dr100. Just relax. I give it finer resolution, 24bit, so that you can see the touch of breaking waves. Wave sounds are often accompanied by calls of seagulls, but this is with cicada. It is a typical image of summer in japan. At825 & mr-1.

I recorded a bird on the koh tao island in thailand. It makes some weird sounds and says "i love you". This was very quiet though and i had to make it louder which increased the ambient noises. The weird sounds are pretty clear. Used an rhode ixy and edited in logic.

The morning after christmas 2022 on hood canal. There was a king tide that came up over the stone wall. A king tide occurs when the sun, moon, and earth are in alignment and the combined gravitational pull causes water levels to rise dramatically. I took this recording right next to the pilings where the dock is connected. You can hear the water hitting the metal and wood as it knocks it around. The water eventually washed over the road.

A field recording of small waves crashing on a sandy shore. Part of the recording includes the waves splashing against a wooden structure. The waves come a fast, regular intervals; this isn't the slow rolling crash of a barrel wave on the beach. There was a bit of wind (generating the waves) which i've did my best to minimize, but if you don't want wind in the recording you're going to need to edit around it. Always curious to see where these recordings wind up, so if you use it drop me a link in the comments if you think about it.
