I tried and tried and tried to find a genuine audio recording of a sandstorm, but all i could find were synthetic mixes. What genuine audio i did find always had some other noise or voice polluting the audio. So, i found a couple of great wind audio recordings, some wind rustling a dry corn field, and some low earth rumbling and combined all of that to create the closet approximation i could to the authentic sandstorm audio i was able to find but couldn't use. I hope others find this audio useful in any of your projects. Feel free to use with no worries.

I saw this huge storm brewing, so i put my laptop next to an open window, thinking that i might record a nice atmospheric recording of rain and light thunder, and i caught this thing, no more than 500m away. I had the sensitivity turned all the way up, and the microphone i am using isn't the best, but someone might get a use of it :).

Thunder sound synthesized from a randomly generated tone, and processed (in audacity) with: multivoice chorus, harmonic sythesizer, tons of gverb, 2-second delay, and fade-in/fade-out where appropriate. 1 hour of hurricane hermine from florida's west coast on august 31st, 2016 using a zoom h4n pro recorder. Mostly rain for the first 20 minutes,then increases and decreases in intensity with the storm bands passing through. Occasional thunder getting heavy about a half hour into it. . Some nearby lightning strikes followed by the sound of emergency sirens and power line crews passing by, add color.

Sound was created by lightly blowing into straw close to microphone with small and large exhales. A zoom h2n handy recorder was used to capture the sound and basic editing was completed in garageband. (christopher u. ).
