Inspired by ben croshaw's point 'n' click horror adventure games, i decided i'd try and see if i can make my own creepy whispers using audacity. This is basically some whispered lines and some really low-volume screams superimposed on one another, with some of these lines reversed. I made this on march 2012 and was recorded on my netbook's slightly damaged built-in mic.

I recorded with the zoom h4n. At 2 o'clock in the morning. Crowd of young people outside in the street having a party. Voices speaking french, laughing, shouting. Window open.

Made in audacity, feel free to use.

"kurwa" is a polish word as popular and as meaningful as english "fuck". It is also (sadly) the most well-known polish word among other nations. Why does everything i upload sound like people screaming and/or chainsaws!?. Sound source is a contact mic producing feedback into various fx. The main fx used for the clip are a sirkut electronics gnarler, boss metal zone, dod grunge, and finally, a danelectro french fries auto wah. Recorded direct-to-sound card as usual. Street ambience in alameda de hercules (seville) on a friday night. Kids playing soccer, shouting, people chatting, traffic sounds. Field-recording with zoom h4n.

At first, the cars pass through in front of the school. And then, the people were talking around and pass by us when we went through the school-yard. We walked up the stairs and pass through the playground, we heard children playing basketball. We heard the balls hit the ground and the children screaming and shouting. Beside that, there was a sound of repairing near the terrace. At the end, we arrived canteen and we heard the students talking.

Seventeen recordings of children and preteens talking, playing, etc. Most of these were recorded at an american middle school, primarily sixth and seventh-graders.
