An up-close recording of a single cricket chirping. I recorded this with a shure beta 57a microphone, at my house, with the mic a few inches away from one of my housemate's crickets (don't ask). I used cubase and izotope denoise to remove noise artifacts, as well as a low-cut to remove unwanted low freqs. Recorded in mono but exported in stereo, so both the left and right audio channels are the same.

I stopped along a bike ride in order to record the sound of monument creek. In this recording, the phone mic was a few inches above the water, and i was about twenty feet from a set of mild rapids.

A cataclystic, "buildup" sound effect resulted from extreme manipulation from two digital audio workstations - fl11 and reaper. The base sample was a public domain sound of a roland d50-esque sounding element which was heavily edited using volume-scaled automation, reverberation, pitch-shifting, transpositioning and trimming audio.

Recorded with zoom h1. Pulled up the old clock. Edited the recording in sound forge.

Well, the closest i could get, anyway. Technically, it's a banana. One sudden peel, truncated, modified and reversed in various ways until it sounded (to me) like it could vaguely represent the sound of sewing. . . .
