More vinyl crackle, noise and other surface sounds saved from records i’ve recorded into my computer. Have fun.

20s of hiss dithered to 16bit 48khz. Level it much lower to maybe between -40dbfs and -80dbfs and you will have a nice dub or tape noise.

This sample was created by taping a razor blade to a contact microphone and allowing the blade to scrape against the edge of a record spinning on a turntable. The reverb was added in real time, so there's not a dry signal recording. Very reminiscent of tg's "hamburger lady" in some ways. Sounds like a human voice almost.

The end of a very old 45rpm vinyl - not looped - rec with r1 (+12 db gain).

Vinyl start noise in a loop at 80 bpm. Recorded, edited and mastered with logic pro x. Can be easily used as a percussion line in a hip hop production.

The needle being lifted mechanically from a vinyl record.

A continuous blank record groove running almost 22 minutes in length. This is from the unused backside of a 1961 test pressing made for a commercial release on the mgm record label. Nothing is looped or enhanced in any way. The final 28 seconds of the file is the stylus riding in the lock groove near the label. I started recording a vinyl lp into my computer before realising that i hadn’t set the anti-skate properly and the needle was stuck in the lead-in groove. I trimmed this bit of snap crackle n’ pop and kept it in the hope that it might be useful for me or anyone else. Have fun.

Part of sample pack "hip+hop_vinyl" some years ago i sampled some of my vinyl records using my mpc2000. . . Sampled drum kit consists hip hop, electronic and rock records. . . . Enjoy!.

In an attempt to add warmth to my productions, i sampled some of the more distinctive sounds mostly from the lead-ins and lead-outs from dirty/scratched records. If shortened, they make for interesting _analog_ glitch noises.

End of an album and the arm lifts on an automatic turntable.

A compilation of accidental recordings or recordings of terrible quality i made, with the pops and crackles and interesting parts all together. I think if rearranged this could be useful for making vinyl, analog sounding drum beats. I used a similar strategy for making my chai tea drums- https://freesound. A friend of mine has recorded some sounds from warsaw underground train. Then i have procesed it with lmms to get something similar to dj scratching. Hopefully you'll find some use for it.

Stopped in a tiny museum in kansas and the curator turned on the 1900s edison photograph for me and let me record the classic humming, scratchy sound of a turntable turning. The steady rhythm had a very "bioshock infinite" feel to me, and i loved it. Nice to put under music to make it sound old. Recorded on my cellphone and cleaned up in audacity. Production-now. Lead in groove of a 7" single @ 45 rpm. Recording chain:. Pro-ject primary turntable with an ortofon om 5e cartridge→ onkyo stereo amplifier→ behringer uca202 audio interface→ laptop using audacity. Notched out some motor noise and selectively eliminated or lessened some other noises for aesthetic reasons.
