This is a bass sequence which i made with fruity loops with the soundfile nova. I used the slicer channel to make this sound.

Deep bass melody.

A synthetic bass multisample. I created it using the virsyn cube additive synthesizer (vsti). I applied some eq using the sonalksis sv-517 equalizer plugin. The sound was compressed by the sonalksis sv-315 and nomad factory blue tubes cp2s compressor plugins. All great quality plugs. The sound is a nice but rather static emulation of a bass guitar. Use your sampler's velocity and pitch bending options to bring this multisample to life. All samples in a 24 bit, 44. 1 khz resolution. Loop points were added for sustained notes.

Snippets from recordings of me playing the tanpura. The strings are tuned to b, d, g and e, so would work well in the keys of g or e minor. I noticed that my first pack of tanpura samples has a bit of fuzzy white noise so in this pack i have equalized - i reduced all the very high frequencies which got rid of most of the white noise without affecting the low frequency sounds of the tanpura itself. Please note this is the tanpura part of an instrument called the swar sangam which combines the swarmandal (indian harp) and the tanpura, it is not a traditional tanpura and does sound slightly different.

A simple bass lick recording which i used on the demo of my master thesis. Yamaha trb5pii (maple top), slightly balanced favouring pickup bridge, fingerstyle, fingers placed over pickup bridge, all other controls centered. Straight into focusrite scarlett 2i2 into audacity.

A peculiar local brand of fruit juice sold in small plastic bags with a straw will sometimes vibrate violently when sipped, producing this deep groaning sound. I've yet to discover what exactly causes this to happen. When trying to record it i experimented with straw positioning, sipping strength, holding angle of the pack, and couldn't get it to consistently rumble. This may be a marketing conspiracy to get audio people to stock up on juice to master how to perform the packaging. Recorded with sony pcm-d100, edited and denoised in izotope rx 7.

This standup bass was sampled using a direct pickup as well as stereo overhead mics for some room ambience. Articulations include a normal pizzicato, or finger plucked note; a stopped note as performed with the finger; a stopped note performed bartok style; and some miscellaneous sound effects: a slide by the hand down the strings, a slap on the strings, and a knock on the wooden body of the bass. I was inspired by urbexshauny's dark atmos, (http://freesound. Org/people/urbexshauny/sounds/367611/) so i threw the excellent "punch" drum synth at it, with a bit of indigo2 virus and a stack of compression everywhere. Bpm is at 90, the loop is from about 5. 10 thru the end.
