I recorded a transformer with a guitar pickup then broadcasted it from a speaker, then re-recorded this sound, waving my mic at the speaker (like a light sabre). Add a bit of chorus and voila, it's that light sabre sound. Could be a bit more beefy, you can add some sub or something, anyhows, hope some of yous get some use out of it anyways innit???!.

What happens is that your computer plays the sound coming from the person on the other side and then it plays over there and then plays back on your computer, it builds up in waves. This one was recorded with a homemade condenser mic into my zoom h4n, so it sounds a little lo-fi, though it seemed to take additive hf eq quite nicely. The huevos fucheros was delicious. This is a test recording of my brand new rode shotgun microphone. I connected it to my sony recorder and did this recording. It sounds amazing for being the price that it was. This microphone was originally designed to be used with cameras, but i am using it as a handheld microphone. Hope you enjoy. Our neighbors fought a lot. Usually at around 2am and it would go on for about an hour or two. Besides being angry and annoyed, my girlfriend and i were always curious as to what they could possibly be fighting about. I had the idea to record them via a long mic cable stretching down the hallway, strategically hidden behind a few pieces of wood, to their apartment door. My plan was to one day play this from my stereo at a loud volume around 2am. As i later thought this through i realized that this would only disturb my other quiet neighbors and was a fairly selfish act. This is a recording made just outside my window. A helicopter flew over just a minute later, twice! i used a cheap large diaphragm condensor mic, with a plastic bendable tube around it, pointing just outside of my window. I made noise with my teeth hopefully it sounds like its a squish or squirt that was what i was going for. It was created on audacity with my blue yeti microphone. It was done at home i simply pushed my tongue against my teeth simple and got really close to the mic. You don't have to do this, but i would like for you to tell me what its being used for if its not too much trouble.

Been downloading off this site for ages and thought i'd give something i recorded back. I drank from a glass bottle by a mic to recreate a character in a film drinking some beer from a glass bottle. A small sound but in those quiet scenes i think noises like this make all the difference. Done on my olympus dm5 recorder that i use for last minute foley. Hooray i'm finally on here!.

I noticed one night my broken metallic glass screen door was making quite a ruckus in the wind. I grabbed my zoom h1 and a roll of duct tape and taped it to the interior portion of the door. I proceeded to record the semi-contact-mic results here in at 96 khz / 24 bit. Plenty of good stuff to pull from here, imo. Hope you can get some use out of this one. Enjoy.

This is a field recording, done using a zoom h6 with attached stereo mic. The limiter (general type) was activated on the channel. This is the raw recording without any eq or dynamics added. A quick normalization gave a nice, rich signal that you might be able to use for any purpose. Apply a low pass filter to cut out the rain. Well, enjoy. :). More of this will be uploaded.

This sound effect acts as a demonstration of this stereo pair mic combination right out of the box.

I found this wonderful 4 foot high waterfall in a small canyon in the shawnee national forest in southern illinois. The cool splashing of the rivulet as it spilled out onto a catch-pool was enhanced by the echo as the sound bounced off the 3-sided grotto. Recorded on one of the hottest days of august 2011 using my rode ntg-2 shotgun mic into zoom h4n recorder.

Each accidental pattern was mined out of a much longer recording. I noticed these interesting sequences of noises while editing other samples over the years and threw them into a catch-all folder. All of these were recorded with a usb-stick mic so they have a nice lo-fi distorted quality. Try looping any of these patterns and you'll hopefully understand why i selected them.
