This is a tesla coil high voltage discharge. For the technical it was made with a coil that uses a rotary spark gap giving a different sound to the high-voltage-discharge-1 clip that has more of a 'sizzle' to it. Recorded at a display i did at nottingham in 2013.

We have at least one black-out everyday, and i turn the generating handle of a radio ( sony icf-b01, an emergency radio equipped with lights) for having supper in the dark. I would advice using the end of the audio file to apply noise removal however have left this upload of the sound unedited so you can tweak this yourself to find what fits your project best.
