In 's-hertogenbosch in holland we have carnival every year. This is a recording in the centre of the city. A recording of several 'dweilorkesten' that is a band that plays musing in the street. 'literal' translation is 'mop band or mopping band'. The go trough the streets like someone mopping the floor. This recording at the market-place is made with hundreds of people around. The ambience here is totally different from other places in the town and the world. It complete different than the south american carnival. Recorded: march 7th 2011, markt, 's-hertogenbosch, holland. It's the 80s and i'm about half-way through making a punk/new wave party mix tape when my turntable starts repeating itself. Unwilling to to back and re-record the mix, i batted the needle around on the record for half a second and stopped the tape. This is the part that isn't recognizable as "hey, st. Peter!".

I recorded the sound of my dog's collar using a zoom h4n recorder and a rode m3 microphone. This would be a good sound used in the background in an outdoor scene. I can imagine this recorded noise starting off soft and gradually getting louder to indicate a dog walking by before it softens up and gradually trails off as the dog gets further and further away.

In this series of recordings i strike many cook's safety matches, in a small plaster-boarded room. These sounds were recorded with a match pair of rode m5 small diaphragm condenser microphones, into a zoom h4n. These are the raw sound recording with not noise reduction, eq, or compression.
