My very first sound effect ever uploaded to freesound. From the swagoontrax™ sound & voices collection, featuring myself and my brother, taj. It's just an average group of people in a bathroom or locker room, cracking jokes, talking to each other, or just pulling gags, on one saying "you fart one more time, and see what happens. . . A neighbor of mine might have just peed in his pants if he couldn't shoot off his illegal commercial fireworks before the fourth. So, july first, his manly outpouring of window-rattling bomb blasts echoed across an entire valley. For nearly two hours. I like fireworks. When i go to see 'em. Not so much when i can't get away from them. Sure, i could have gone shopping, or out for a drink. I recorded it instead. This particular explosion is just the largest of those that came after i started recording. It's just a lowly iphone but it does pretty well. Admittedly, even with no amplification it might have been too much for the microphone. You have the clear launch sound followed by burst and echo. The same blast kicks off the other fireworks file i am uploading.

Better set on monoaural on your daw if possible due to the off-center recording. Having been a bit ill on some rich iron content food i couldn't stomach (offal it was, it was the sheep fried liver who was the culprit - the very rich iron content upset my stomach pretty bad - was looking for something "new". ). Keep in mind that i am unable to do this as a request for obvious reasons including health, livelihood and risk of damage to equipment. I tried very hard to avoid shaking the zoom as not to make the wobbling sounds. If i am ill again, i'll use my ma-2 (microphone stick) and gravity microphone stand and get a real good recording of real vomiting but keep in mind this was recorded in my showerroom so some er may occur.

Several years back my older brother stumbled upon a bunch of old family reel to reel films and sat down one evening to project them on a wall and digitize them. This is the sound of that process. What you can hear, i imagine, is the noise of the projector in the left channel and the sound of the reels in the right channel. I've been obsessed with the sounds of the infinite variation in old analog hardware. As a sound designer, that infinite variation is often sought after but rarely, or accurately, reproduced through digital files in various libraries. Of if they are, they're often too short to cover whatever scene i am trying to fill. On the surface it's just noise but if you listen closer it's this wonderful cacophony of overlapping and repeating sounds that are always looping but never quite identical on each rotation. It was ripped from youtube using audio hijack at 48khz/16bit, but due to youtube re-encoding things as youtube does, it's nowhere near the source. It's still, in my opinion, a sound worth sharing. The title is pretty self explanatory. There's a little bit of wind noise. ---two primo em172 mic capsules > zoom h1. I made this recording with my newly acquired $10 primo em172 omni mic capsules, which i soldered to a cable diy loosely based on this tutorial:http://www. Wildmountainechoes. Com/equipment/diy-stereo-electret-mics-primo-em-172-capsules/this is a good example of what the capsules sound like when plugged directly into an inexpensive zoom h1 audio recorder. So far i've been pretty stunned by the performance of these capsules, which are significantly more sensitive than the built in microphones on the h1, and to my ears sound much less muddy. I'm particularly impressed by this because the capsules are running on the 2. 5v of plug-in power that the h1 delivers, which is below the minimum specs of the capsules. Even so there is remarkably little noise. I can only imagine how they would sound with a battery pack to deliver a full 5 volts!.

Of course, i attended the guildford protest, participated and documented it here with some of its vocal chanting from a crowd of several hundred. It's recording of a passenger train's on duty. You can hear the train's motors, the wheels rumbling against the rails, the wagon connectors hitting each other, when the train stops also people chatting. Near the end of the recording the room acoustics change, because a woman entered the area between wagons where i was standing with my recorded pointed down. I was standing in a narrow passage, where two wagons were joined, between two closed slide-doors. She have opened those so the overall sound has radically changed and i decided to end the recording. Through the entire recording the unit is moving forward, decelerating, stopping, staring and accelerating again repeatedly as it travels stopping at several stations. The recording was done with a hand-held zoom h2. Rear mics used pointed to the ground. I was in the loudest area in the whole train. I was using "low" gain (h2 has three mic gain levels to choose from: l/m/h). Viewed and converted to flac using audacity, the file hasn't been altered in any other way. Originally recorded as a 96khz/24-bit stereo wav file.
