When Johnny Comes Marching Home performed by the Brass Quartet of the United States Navy Band. Members of the quartet include Chief Musician Stanley Curtis on trumpet, Musician 1st Class Philip Eberly on euphonium, Musician 1st Class Anthony Halloin on tuba and Chief Musician John Schroeder on trumpet. Originally an early 19th century Irish tune that became popular during during the civil war, Patrick Gilmore wrote lyrics for it and published it as "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" in 1863. The version you hear performed by the Navy Band Brass Quartet was arranged by Schroeder. A catholic procession during easter week in 2010 in cuenca, spain. People marching, sticks hitting the ground, some random voices, de-phased drums in the background. Suddenly all the sticks are dropped on the ground, a fantastic sound.

This is a hand-held brass f3 hand bell, "sung" by circling the rim with a hardwood dowel, as with a "singing" tibetan bowl. Recorded at home on a tascam dr-05 linear pcm recorder.

This was a recording i made of a toy often found in wealthy households of victorian britain. The toy is composed of heavy brass base, candle-stick shaped,upon which balanced a brass cross-piece. Atop the cross-piece was attached the model of a horse and cart, with seated driver. This was made out of tin. When the cross-piece was rocked the sound heard is that of the moving horse's head and driver's arms. The head and arms were connect by thin cord, so moved in unison.
