Busy street in tokyo during the evening rush hour. I placed a pair of mics at 120 degrees between 2 stop lights on a busy street. There are 3 distinct "waves" of traffic let through the lights and all our recorded well. The panning is quite dramatic, so you really get a sense of movement.

Take 10-10: 30 kph. 10-30: slowing down in top gear. 30-35: stopping. 35-50: idling. Take 250-60: 30 kph. 60-80: slowing down in 2nd gear. 80-85: stopping. 85-95: idling. A recording of a loud screeching train by a fishing spot i frequent with my friends!.

Field recordings extracted from videos i took while travelling on a vaporetto (small public transport canal boat) along the grand canal. You can hear the water, the engine revving as the boat criss-crosses the canal from one stop to the next and the(mostly english)chatter of other passengers on the boat. On "venice2" horns are blown by other vessels and someone says at the end "i'm getting off the boat". I have joined 2 tracks on this one and there is a small gap, but with the right equipment that can be edited out. All in all very evocative of the busy atmosphere in venice, even in march (2012).

I dropped a road case closed hoping for a powerful impact sound but actually got a cool whip noise.
