An enjoyable trip back to my childhood. . . Way before cell phones and the internet. Summers were enjoyed walking on the gravel alleys looking at the beautiful, mature trees in my own little corner of the neighborhood. Does this return you to your childhood?. A nice capture of those beautiful chimney swifts twittering above -- a true signature of summer -- occurs at 38 seconds in, then again at 2:24. The typical hum of central air conditioning units is ever present throughout. From 2:11 to 2:27 i stop and you can hear the hum of these units getting louder. At 2:44 a dog barks in the distance. Then, at 4:16 i leave the gravel alley and start walking on the grass, the, at 5:06, up the big, concrete front steps. Recorded at 7:45pm on the evening of wednesday june 12th 2019. An old squeaky manual water pump in my village at one of two cemetries. My gradnfather and my great-grandmother are lying here. I like this place. Its very calm and peaceful. I combine some good childhood memories with this place.

This was recorded at 1:30 in the afternoon on a beautiful, mild november day in 2020. Very pleasing to listen to, and probably helps to bring back memories of your own, warm childhood memories. Even though covid-19 is causing a huge problem all over the world, i find it very soothing and comforting knowing, despite the pandemic, kids are still doing what they've been doing since, well, forever, playing and laughing and having the care-free fun time of their life. This is the sound of someone shaking a kinder surprise egg trying to guess what's inside (like in the tv advert). This is a simple sound that i recorded with a zoom h2n handy recorder. I just cut the extra recording parts, and added a noise reduction effect to clean it in audacity.

One of my favorite spots to hike in illinois has this quite long, and beautiful and rock-lined beautiful creek. Now, even though this creek is in heavy forest, which often leads to very low water levels during the summer, this creek is spring fed so it always has a beautiful ribbon of pure water running 12 months out of the year. I've spent many minutes and countless hours beside this living, breathing water-course pondering the beauty of nature, and reflecting back on my childhood. A childhood filled with much love and many creek adventures. This was recorded on march 8 2021, at a time in the midwest woods when the mayapples are popping up-- lime green umbrellas spotting the forest floor. A recording made at 4:30pm on saturday september 12th 2015 near a playground in a small town. A cool front had recently passed bringing with sharper temperatures and northwest winds sifting through the still green cholorophyll-laden leaves. You hear the sound of children fairly low in the background as they enjoy the playground. True stereo recording made with maantz pmd661 and two sennheiser me-66 microphones mounted in tripods.

My childhood piano, an old german upright. Recorded using a studio projects b3 condenser mic through a presonus tubepre into an akai mpc1000. Mic'd from the top with the lid up, closer to the bass end. The piano is old and slightly out of tune, with a crack in the soundboard. The only processing was with analogx autotune to tune the samples, which did a very good job. Sampled 3 notes per octave so each sample only needs to be tuned + or - a semitone to span the whole range. It is a dark and moody sounding, a lot of character but in now way "pristine".

The tv weather guy said watch out, saturday october 17 2020 is going to be very breezy, with sustained winds out of the southwest at 20 mph, with many gusts at 30mph. A perfect day in a midwest small-town neighborhood for painting a picture of peace, and thoughtful reminiscing in mid october. From time to time you will hear the distant sound of creaking swings and laughter from a kids playground. A stereo recording made at 4:50pm on saturday september 12th 2015 of the ambience of a small town near a playground. Up until this day, the weather here in the midwest had been your typical high-heat high-humidity. But, the day before this field-recording was made the wonderful jet-stream had dropped down on us, a cool, mass of less-humid canadian air, making the leaves sing through the trees with the lifting of the northwest breezes. A gentle tinkling wind-chime can be heard from 1:05 to 1:20. Recording made in stereo with marantz pmd661 and two sennheiser me66 microphones mounted on tripods about 4 feet off the ground.

A recording of a typical busy, yet peaceful later afternoon sound-scape of a small midwestern town at 5:30pm on a weekday. This was recorded on tuesday may 24th, 2016 using the marantz pmd661 and two sennheiser me66 microphones. . . True stereo recording. You will hear the delightful sound of neighborhood kids playing a friendly - or sometimes not so friendly - game of wiffleball which adds to the reflective nature of this recording. The trilling bird calling towards the end of the recording is the beautiful little, rusty-capped chipping sparrow. These chipping sparrows converge on the midwest around this time and their calls can be mistaken as an insect. Enjoy this summer 2016 recording and maybe it will trigger wonderful, innocent memories of your own childhood.

I created this sound to add to the freesound. Org library of sound, because, to obtain use on a sound here, one of the stipulations was that i had to add a sound here at freesound. Org. I love sounds. My senses have always naturally been fine tuned to appreciate the subtle cues in sounds, although, as an artist, i am more drawn to create music or visual art, rather than sounds, but i gave it my best try here. This is a sound i have been doing for years, since a very young child actually. Basically the sound is achieved by making three sounds with my mouth. . . 1. Sucking my lips together, and then opening my mouth, 2. Bringing lips back together and forcing air out 3. And then the sound of my tongue pressed just under my front teeth, and flicking my tongue down. I do this very fast. Enjoy!.

The increasingly rare melody of the whipporwill. . . . Cricket frogs also. A wonderful summer soundscape, bringing back memories of days gone by. And, hopefully, a soundscape that will continue to add meaning to summer childhoods. So glad to hear this.
