This is the one minute narration of a sound walk i did on september 7, 2019 at the afternoon. I walked the streets of 8117 garden grove ave. , reseda, california, united states. I also heard cars passing by, creating a sound called doppler effect. I can also hear the footsteps that i was making.

The ambience takes place in a forest near madrid, on october, 2015. The sound is the reproduction of footsteps of a runner approaching. The effect that is produced is like a doppler effect, but i didn't change the recording. I recorded it with a zoom h4n. The sound can be used as a background resource. I wanted to capture tramp of feet on gravel moving away, as a typical sound to be used in stories.

I recorded this effect in orpington, england, on a mixpre3 recorder with a beyerdynamic mce72 stereo mic 24bit 48k wav. I caught this pair of canadian geese flying overhead and landing in a nearby pond during lockdown in orpington. March 17th 2021 at 0630am. The a21 is ever present but a lot less traffic noise at this time of day.

I recently contributed a track to a triple lp set of krautrock cover versions ("head music 2", released by fruits de mer records, december 2020). The song i chose to cover was kraftwerk's "autobahn". If you know the track, you'll know that it uses synthesised traffic sounds alongside recordings of the same. On my version, i achieved these in three ways:. 1) i downloaded some public domain traffic sound effects from elsewhere here on freesound. Org (thanks, guys!). 2) i got in my car with my zoom recorder and made my own recordings of the engine starting, stopping, etc. 3) i made my own sound effects using virtual synths and effects in ableton live 10. This particular sound falls into the third category. Let me stress that while the song "autobahn" is copyrighted, these are isolated sound effects and are not covered by copyright. I'm making them available here under a public domain licence. If you download and use any of these samples, please let me know in the comments what you did with them. It's not compulsory but it would be interesting to know what people did with these sounds.

Cartoon-style bomb launch and distant explosion. Doppler shifting whistle starts at centre and pans to extreme right with fadeout. A muted detonation follows at extreme right - a non-realistic and short explosion. Created with ni fm8 running as a vsti inside flstudio 11 with a touch of fl reverb2. The "projectile" whistle is a soft square wave lightly modulated by a sinewave at 6x the frequency of the square wave fundamental to give it a touch of metallic ringing.

Tabla is percussion instrument with two drums 'daya' and 'baya'. Only the 'daya' drum is usually tuned. For checking the tuning the 'na' bol is played. Recorded using samson-go portable condenser mike at home. Placing the mike too close to tabla was clipping the sound and if placed away, it was not picking the extended resonance. Hence the mike was moved closer after attack, hence the apparent increase in amplitude and some doppler effect is seen.

A wonderful typical mid-summer soundscape of cicadas, and some katydids recorded on the edge of a small town in illinois. Here is a recording done during the fireworks of san juan at the beachof barcelona, spain. I was standing in front of the mapfre building, between the building and the sea to be exact. Fireworks were being launched behind me from the beach and their sound was reflected off of the building in front of me. The effect you hear are thereflections of the building. The building is shaped to visually reflect the city back onto the beach. Hence each floor has mirrors in a 45 angle downwards, all around the building (look it up on google for details). The sound must be coming from different points each located further away, creating a kind of discrete doppler effect, i suppose, although i am not yet 100% sure what exactly causes this. I am holding the microphone sideways, so you hear the explosions on your right ear and the reflection traveling to the left. In reality, you hear the explosion behind you and the reflection traveling up along the building. If you are ever in barcelona end of june during "san juan", you should check this out!. Two tone siren that is used by all emergency service vehicles, including police, ambulance and fire department (in 2012) in the netherlands. This is not a recording of an actual siren, but generated by a synthesizer at the exact two frequencies that the siren consists of. For a realistic result it is suggested that you mix this with other background sounds and add your own doppler, echo, panning and other effects to suit your needs.
