This is a recording of heavy downpour on the streets of a rural village in germany. The rain was also dropping down on a small metal roof not far away. Furthermore, there was some rumbling thunder going on in the distance from time to time, as well.

My first recorded sound! it's actually just 6 secs long. I was on a vacation yesterday to a cottage resort, but it was a really rainy day. I decided to take out my $300 samsung to record a bit of the rain. I had the quality at 22khz, so the quality kinda sucks but it's still ok. I also have 2 more sounds (i couldn't record any more because my mic on the tablet broke and it only picks up static).

This is a recording of the six o'clock cicada taken near to the danum valley rain forest lodge in the primary rain forest of borneo. The 6 o'clock cicada is the loud horn type of sound that can be heard in the fist few seconds of the file. Later in the file other insects come in one sounding more like a car alarm.

A strong thunder storm passes over the island of bermuda in the atlantic ocean at 4:00am. Ten thunderbolts of varying intensity can be heard against a backdrop of falling rain and singing treefrogs. A few thunder sounds were still too loud, but luckily the h5 has a backup function that recorded an identical track 12 db quieter. Zoom h4n - onboard microphones. This recording was captured in the city of orange in orange county, california. This is located just below los angeles and less than a mile from disneyland in anaheim. This is an extremely clean recording of a sudden cloudburst that turned in to a torrential downpour on december 28, 2020. The peaks are all very close to 0db. I opened the sliding glass door to our balcony and placed my zoom h4n as close as possible to the rain without destroying the recorder. What resulted is an amazingly layered rain track. This is because rain can be heard striking multiple surfaces such as a tree, a metal table, the cement balcony, etc. . . There is not much thunder (that's rare in this area) but if you need a few dramatic thunder claps they can be found at the following times one the file is downloaded.
