This is a background sound i've created designed to imitate the noise produced by a vast collection of typewriters being worked on in a large warehouse environment. All the noises within in have been taken from freesound. There are 8 different typewriters here. On some channels i stuck a lo pass and some big room reverb, and on others i added a little compression to bring them to the forefront. The whole had a hard limiter to -6 on the top.

Assisted breathing for my agonizing friend the day before he died. He told me that the sounds bothered him (morphine made him sensible to ears), that everything was magnified, so i raised the input level to 9, removed the lo-cut and the limiter in order to better understand how he perceived it. These sounds were recorded in a dumpster for a sound installation project. The ease at which members of our society buy and dispose of our goods is quite disgusting, much more than the experience of rescuing useful things from the trash. The idea of making things to be thrown makes no sense unless money is the highest form of good. Companies make things to be disposable so they can sell more, with no thought of what will happen when we have used up too much, or the environment becomes so polluted that it can no longer support human life. Dumpster diving has many negative connotations, but recently it appears to have been embraced by freegans and those who are environmentally minded. The act saves things from thousands of years of preservation in a landfill, while decreasing production. I often try to forage for useful items and food in the wild, while dumpster diving is more like urban foraging; an experience that reveals the culture of the city, rather than the culture of the nature. The sad fact is that what i leave in the wild is used and recycled naturally, while what i leave in a dumpster is sealed in a time capsule that will outlast present successes and show future generations how we have failed, should future generations come.

This audio is not a sound effect itself, however it can be used with an impulse response plugin to recreate the acoustics of a particular environment. This particular file is designed to replicate the acoustics of distant muffled club or rave. This was done using the "profiler stereo lsp plugin" and placing the microphones on the opposite corner of the speaker in a highly reverberous house forcing the audio to reverberate around a corner. After this, a low frequency boost was applied in post along with other general cleanup of the audio.

This wood thrush was recorded around 7:30 in the morning in heavy woods in deep southern illinois. Unlike my earlier posting of the wood thrush singing at dusk, this morning recording has the wood thrush singing with lots of company, although he clearly rises above his neighbors. 17 seconds into the recording you hear the drumming of a woodpecker, and at one-minute 20 seconds into the recording you hear the distinctive-lonely sounding call of the huge pileated woodpecker. This is the sound of a spaceship's underbelly cargo hatch closing mid-flight after receiving a cargo transfer. The sequence begins with a warning alarm indicating the hatch closing, followed by the sound of the giant servos rotating the dual bay doors up and inward until the bay is sealed shut and locked. A huge ice storm moves in to the back woods of north carolina on 01/30/2014. First it snowed. . . And then it sleeted. When all that sleet froze on the surface of the snow, walking in this winter-wonderland produced an amazing sound. So, i put on my boots, grabbed my zoomh4n and set out to record the magic!. This would be very useful as foley fx for walking in any frozen environment. I walked on various surfaces and depths of ice and snow throughout. These are a series of gunshots that are supposed to resemble a laser sort of weapon, like an alien weapon. To make this, i used a filter that has a vocoder, polyvox, and talkbox, with distortion added. The initial sound i'm making is a chirping with my mouth and the filter does the rest. I think this works well on its own but it should work well mixed in with another sound effect if you choose to mix it. There is no reverb added or environment effects so its very flexible. The new hope & ivyland railroad is located in new hope, pennsylvania, usa. Basically, it's a tourist railroad that gives visitors the experience of riding in an old fashioned train. You take a short trip out (too short in my opinion) and a short trip back to the station. Since i wanted clean sound, my wife decided to surprise me by paying for the private seats on the very back (outside) of the train. Think of old pictures of presidents waving from the rear of a moving train. . . That place!. So, with zoomh4n pro in hand, i recorded the entire trip from station to station. 11/29/2018 - burbank, california. Rain, flooding, and mudslides come to california when a sudden storm hit today. Most people got off the freeways quickly and tried to protect their homes from water damage. This recording was recorded with a zoomh4npro (2018) set at 120 degree field-pattern mode. The zoom was placed on a tripod facing out a 3rd floor window into a dead-end alleyway below. This recording is great atmospheric sound. The water can be heard trickling off spanish tile rooftops and dripping from overflowing terracotta pots. From the passing cars on a distant highway, to the occasional cough of a homeless gentleman walking on the street below, this recording is genuine and clean. Imagine adding that sound of a metal garbage can and a shrieking cat in the night! a sound that's great for sleeping or portraying a dark alley in gotham!. Enjoy!. Christopher c. Courter.

The amtrak pacific surfliner winds it'd way up and down the pacific coast coast. This train is known for spectacular coastal views. Here you can hear this high-speed train come screaming through burbank's downtown station (traffic can be heard on i-5 in the distance). You will hear a security guard walk behind me just before the train comes through. He was one of our trusty transpo officers making sure i wasn't up to no good with my zoomh4n device. Short field recordings made with my iphone in august 2013 while visiting family on one of the many small residential islands located in beaufort, south carolina (of forrest gump, the prince of tides, the big chill, and the great santini fame for any movie buffs out there). The loud buzzing is the ear-piercing mating call of the cicada insect, a sound that's hard to escape in the sultry summer months and semi-tropical environment of the south carolina low country. You can also hear tree frogs and i think maybe some birds too. Unfortunately there's also a little ambient whine of an air conditioner at times and me tip-toeing quietly around on the crunchy gravel dirt road. . . Because i didn't realize my iphone would do such a good job of picking up the sound of my footsteps. :). This is heavily inspired by the urban myth and/or creepypasta called the backrooms, which have a very distinct atmosphere to them. This is my interpretation. However, this isn't exclusively for backrooms-related stuff! so by all means, if you're simply in need of some interior ambience of any sort, that's also why i made this for you. No advanced processing was used to achieve this sound. I recorded an electrical box in my garage for the buzzing. For the 2nd layer, i turned on some fans in my room, and made a long mono recording of the white-noise. I then split the recording in half, and used each half for the left and right channel, giving it a stereo sound. I then spent an hour leveling all of it because i'm a perfectionist. Yay. Let me set the scene for this audio because i am a nerd. . . Burbank, california. A large apartment/condominium complex with an open courtyard and a swimming pool and hot tub. Now, for some reason in la, nobody ever seems to actually use pools or hot tubs anymore so it's not hard to get clean audio. So, from beginning to end you will basically hear me turn the automatic shutoff dial on the wall, walk to the hot tub, get in the hot tub, and sit in various positions for extended periods of time. This recording was done on a balmy day in early november at the shore of a small lake in southern illinois. Even though it was november, i was in a short-sleeve t-shirt, because of the warm weather that we had been having. However, there was a huge, approaching mass of cold air from canada approaching which resulted in some tremendous, steady winds, gusting up to 40 miles an hour. I literally had my zoom h4n recorder sitting in some sedge-type grasses inches from the lake, which enabled me to get the clear, crisp sound of the wind-driven wages breaking over the small rocks and sticks. Occasionally you will hear a dull roar of the wind, which i was able to decrease a bit using my graphic equalizer, although as you listen to the entire piece you will notice that i just could not eliminate all of the “wind roar”,. Still, i think this is an effective, realistic sound-record of what happens when cold air hits head on with warm air over a lake. Again, this was recorded using the zoom h4n digital audio recorder, using the built-in stereo microphones. Enjoy.
