420 Royalty-Free Audio Tracks for "Equipment"

This is the companion audio to the article "modify your monitor audio" appearing on w1zy's substack account. In it, we hear what happens when you mix through a soundboard the audio from a ham radio transmitter's "monitor" output and a second receiver dialed onto the transmitter's output frequency. When the two are mixed, we hear a heterodyning between the external receiver and the transmitter monitor audio sources. By adjusting the receiver's frequency to that of the transmitted signal, we can zero-beat the two audio sources together producing a "flange" effect derived from analog devices. Non-ham audio enthusiasts might find this clip interesting since it is producing this artifact not through some plug-in, but through use of "legacy" analog equipment.

A peaceful, quiet soundscape recorded in the midwest during covid-19. This includes the nice, soft, gentle song of crickets during the midday. Plus, about halfway through, one of my favorite sounds--even though it is man-made, that of a propeller airplane droning on through the bright, breezy saturday. Recording made on saturday may 9th, 2020 at 3pm in the afternoon. It was made in short grass just off of an asphalt trail, running through a beautiful woods at a very popular state park in illinois. Because of the covid-19 shutdown, the background noise of cars was almost nonexistent. Plus, the grass in the picnic area which surrounded the asphalt trail had not been mowed in a while, which added a nice touch of wild to the place. Equipment: sony pcmd100. Enjoy !.

A recording on an un-expected but very welcome warm day in january in the northern hemisphere. A recording of the activity going on at a small park in a small town, in a small region. The beginning of this mid-january 2023 recording features some sounds from several people playing pickleball. Towards the end of this audio, the laughter of the kids really takes center stage. By now covid is getting smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror, mother nature has decided to give us an extra 15 degrees of warmth and the adults, and youngsters are having fun just being outside and smiling and laughing. Having been a bit ill on some rich iron content food i couldn't stomach (offal it was, it was the sheep fried liver who was the culprit - the very rich iron content upset my stomach pretty bad - was looking for something "new". ). One of my favorite summer and late-summer sounds. The night-hawk is the star of this recording. This recording was made around 9pm at night in mid-august and, even though i never could see this nighthawk, his calls pierced through the night-sky to let me know he was up there, somewhere, orbiting on the prowl for mosquitos and other insects. I have always loved this sound ever since i was a kid and going to sleep at night i felt comforted knowing that, like some circling fighter jet, the nighthawks would be on the job, plowing down the population of mosquitos, while i slept all night. This is the sound of a viking electric lawnmower in action; mowing a piece of lawn. Today i got my audio equipment. This is my first contribution. When i was walking around today to catch sounds, i met a man who was mowing his lawn. I asked him if i could record him while he was mowing his lawn. He agreed and i was allowed to record him mowing. It's a viking electric lawnmower. Description: a man mows the lawn with an electric lawnmower. He drives the lawn mower over a piece of path to the meadow, mows and drives the lawn mower back. Since this ambience was recorded during the work-week, there are hardly any man-made internal combustion engine noises. Just the wind lifting and swirling through the tired forest and the blue jays, crows and insects. Recording made at 2:30pm on september 13 2022. So far i've been pretty stunned by the performance of these capsules, which are significantly more sensitive than the built in microphones on the h1, and to my ears sound much less muddy. I'm particularly impressed by this because the capsules are running on the 2. 5v of plug-in power that the h1 delivers, which is below the minimum specs of the capsules. Even so there is remarkably little noise. I can only imagine how they would sound with a battery pack to deliver a full 5 volts!.

I'm attempting to create a controllable thunderstorm for a film, and this is my first legitimate attempt. This recording consists of 4 samples of rain, and another 3 samples of rain+thunder that i recorded one afternoon. Equipment used was the inbuilt mics on a roland r-26, and a sennheiser me66 into a sound devices 702. The clips were recorded at 96khz/24-bit, and they were processed at 48khz/24-bit. For processing, i put the samples into kyma, and crossfaded for texture. The howling wind sound is an analog-style low pass filter's frequency, level, and resonance being controlled by a wacom intuos4 pen/tablet. The rain slowly swells, which was done by changing parameters of a granular reverb. The thunder was also controlled by the wacom tablet, with x, y, and z (pressure) dimensions mapped to making the thunder swell in level, density, and texture. This could have been output in surround, but i don't have that many monitors ;). This style of "rain-synthesis" can also go on indefinitely. Please let me know what you think of the quality of this track; eg, if it sounds real, if the wind sounds ridiculous, too much thunder, etc. Use this sound (wherever) if you want to, or let me know if you'd like an mp3 of this, or for it to last longer. A late summer soundscape that is a favorite of mine. . Microphones set up in some mature woods about 60 feet from a large lake on labor day weekend. Most of the background is the insects, which are very obvious during this time of year. The swelling of their volume is nap-inducing (*at least to me in my opinion. )here is the midwest this swelling and subsiding of the insect wave tells me that summer is just about starting to go back downhill, after a feverish peak. Despite the covid-19 of the year, nature does not seem to have changed her soundscape. Life goes on in the forests. The birds, whose job of raising young is over, are still there. . . They're just resting and relaxing and listening to the insects as well i'm sure. Now of course you will hear a few prominent birds in this captured moment:(1) a great blue heron squawks out starting at 1:17 into this piece. (2) the alarm call of a red-headed woodpecker can be heard at 2:14. Other than that, just the insects singing their hearts out and the assortment of birds taking secondary place during this time of year. I recorded the last part of my travel to work, the first day after my vacation. Inside the train my recording equipment (soundman digital recorder dr2) generates a lot of digital noise – more than usual. Interesting. Therefore i upload from when the commuter train stops at gothenburg central station and the doors open and i walk away from the station. The digital noise is there all the time but just less audible. In the beginning of the sound file you hear the noise clearly. Don’t buy this little recorder… (it has a sigmatel recording chip. ). In the frequency analysis, and spectral view, i notice peaks at about 800 - 950hz, 7850 - 8350hz and 16100-16450hz. I guess this is part of the digital noise. Tried to eq this away with spectral edit. This did not improve the sound. The noise has a wider spectrum. Tried to download the “latest” firmware at www. Soundman. De. Had to open command prompt and use unzip to extract the files. What?! but the firmware downloader does not detect the “device”. I doubt there is a new firmware anyway. The year for this recording, according to the recorder, is 2002…. The recording starts about 07:50 monday, august 07, 2017. I took 2 seconds from the beginning of this file and used paulstretch. Resulting in a 20second digital noise drone, “dr2 digital noise”,https://freesound.
