A delicate tinkling of ice recorded on a behringer ultravoice mic from tilting a plastic container of frozen turkey broth i took out of the freezer. Apparently a small number of free floating ice crystals were hitting a layer of frozen crystals on the lid, resulting in this remarkably musical sound. Please feel free to use as you like!.

Pulling apart and throwing / dropping / breaking / smashing chunks of ice from the frozen water pooled up over the cover of my swimming pool. The breaking ice sometimes sounds a bit like shattering glass; at other times the sound is more crunchy and wet.

This was an attempt at the ice speed record by a rocket powered snow machine called the arctic arrow. The old record was 247 mph. On this run he goes 241mph but at the finish line he loses control and crashes quite dramatically! the driver, kurt anderson walked away. I have photos of the crash as well if interested. This sample is part of the icefield-library. I used a pair of soundman okm2 mics as contact microphones which i fixed to the surface of a frozen lake, then recorded the sounds made by throwing or skimming several stones and pebbles across the ice. Wonderful effects can also be achieved by filtering or timestretching the files.

Blending a smoothie. Blender goes on and off a couple of times to help churn frozen strawberries. During the blending, there is the sound of a spoon tapping on the pitcher.
