Recorded in a small midwest town at 4:30 in the morning on december 11th, 2016 using the sound-devices 702 and two sennheiser mkh66 microphones. Stereo.

Landing boeing 772 airplane flying by at 300 m altitude, observed about 300 m to the side of the flight path (upward looking angle about 45 deg at closest point). Recorded with zoom h2n voicerecorder, normal stereo mode, no compression. Some birds in the environment (natural birds). If you want it to fly the other direction just reverse the stereo.

This sound was recorded in a forested area called lot 2, a low lying floodplain in the town of coffs harbour. It might be bulldozed to make land room for houses. You can also hear the engines of the plane and people unlocking their seatbelts. Additionally, there's a crying baby on the background. The plane landed on schiphol airport.

If you stand just underneath a commercial airplane as it's coming in to land (as was the case here at dfw airport) and so long as there's not a lot of noise around you (like loud traffic, etc. ) then when the jet passes overhead, what you can't see is that at the tips of the wings are rapidly spinning vortices of air that coil off the wingtips as the plane passes through air. These long, coiling spirals of air will eventually "close" and as that happens, it creates a momentary but bizarre, surreal sound that you really need to hear for yourself in person to get the full effect.
