In 1967, these cybermen were voiced by peter hawkins using a vocoder or an electro-larynx, a device used to restore speech to those whose vocal cords are damaged by detecting vibrations of the throat. At the very end of part 2 of "tomb of the cybermen", the cyberman controller is awakened and says "you belong to us, you shall be like us!" to the cast.
