This is the first recording i made with my zoom h1 (probably will be making more soon). I made it from my balcony, late afternoon - there is a large playground surrounded with 4 four-storied blocks, so there's a great echo. The birds are very noisy at this time of day here and kids as well. There are also some distinct parents talking in the background. Recorded in small town in poland.

Dark spooky ring wind godly. Watch out for the blip! i really should have edited that out, but this sample was made by rubbing sound into some vst's using the fairlight mfx3 single frame loop feature recorded onto a mac g3 in a very smoky room very late at night. From memory this was a recording of a stone being dragged, altho a bit hazy as i think i made this sound in 1999.

I was at a human trafficking conference and to thank the people the first nations people of the area sang this song for a long time brushing the participants with cedar boughs and smudging. I caught about half of the singing and drumming. It was done in a large lunch room with about 100 people attending in the late afternoon. I recorded the sound with my lumix fz200. Location was in surrey british columbia.

Late winter snow storm last night in the detroit area 3-3-23 around 9pm est. Was attempting to record thundersnow but by the time i found my batteries the thunder and lightning stopped. A cool front had recently passed bringing with sharper temperatures and northwest winds sifting through the still green cholorophyll-laden leaves. The soundscape at the bottom of the dried moat of arundel castle in late spring. There's a strong breeze running through the trees, crows calling, an aeroplane, a couple of flies buzz past. I was laying in the sunshine about 10 meters away, falling asleep :). Sound devices mixpre3 and rode svmx, bit of low cut applied (60hz, 12db/oct) and a small amount of higher frequency boost to compensate for the wind cut i had fitted.

Many find the sound of a prop-plane flying lazily very peaceful --- especially if it is a late summer day against a blue sky on the edge of a forest. Even though i was actually on an outing to record the birds of the deep forest in summer, this plane came right overhead and, well, here it is. The ocassional soft chirp of the birds adds a nice touch. Recorded with my zoom h4n recorder with the internal microphones set on an input volume of 75.

A recording of strong north winds gusting through a neighborhood. You'll hear leaves ratttling, the flapping of a big tarp, dogs in the background far away, and, one of my favorites, wind chimes. The jingling wind chimes really get going towards the end of the recording. Occassionally a loud car drives by. I sat my handy zoom h4n recorder on my front porch for this one and used the internal microphones with record volume at 80. .

This was recorded in my kitchen next to a railway, late at night when there was maintenance going on on the line. A heavy unit called a tamper went past, tamping down the ballast (stones) that go under the tracks. Lots of sub-bass as the whole building gets vibrated and at -04:29 a balanced teapot lid puts itself onto the teapot. Zoom h4n, 24/48 wav exported to flac in audacity.

On deck aboard a baltic sea car ferry bound from rostock/germany to trelleborg/sweden. It is late evening, and the ferry is cruising clear of the harbor into the open sea. The recording features the ambient noise on deck, mainly the drone of the ship and it's diesels, some sea in the background, and the occasional door opening and closing. Recorded with a zoom h2n. A beautiful, ancient sound of a small creek flowing in a heavy midwestern forestafter a late autumn day of rain. (recorded on sunday november 30th, 2019)this particular " scene " is the result of a 2 inch deep flow of water suddenly dropping over several medium-sized old rocks. In a few days, this flow will cease and the creek-bed will revert back to its typical, meandering , dry rocky path through the woods. Enjoy. This very happy bird-song was recorded in late winter/very early spring of 2012. It was a cold, partly sunny morning after a cold night, yet this red male cardinal was singing proud and loud. Recorded in a small town, with some traffic sounds in the back. Also, if you listen close enough you will hear some starlings in the background with their waking up chorus. Recorded using the handy/zoom h4n recorder and a samson c0-2 microphone mounted inside my home-built parabolic reflector.

A stark recording of a bunch of northwest winds whipping through a small town. This was recorded in december 17th 2013 during the height of the frenzy of the holiday season. I think that it why i enjoy this recording so much -- the lonely yet comforting desolate wind in contrast to the frenetic sensory overload that the holidays can sometimes be. A pluck on a jew's harp. Recorded late at night in my bedroom on a samsung mp3 player. I enhanced it to the best of my abilities in audacity since the original recording had a low bitrate (64kbps mp3), the volume was low and it had a lot of static noise. Unfortunately the recording have a lot less warmth to it than the instrument has in reality. I am not sure of the tone of the harp but i believe it is a c, if it is not please let me know. 1 of 15.

Was up late last night and needed to make a foley for a radio tuning for a movie project thats coming up. So i thought i try and make my own. I just took my alarm clock radio and played with the am tuner and got some pleasing results. In the beginning it tunes in into various stations while coming towards the end its very errie with static and a wobbly tone. Feel free to use this for your own project. This is an ambient recording of the late night crowd of kids at 14th street unions square nyc. It's where the market usually is during the day. There is some traffic present but it's mostly about the voices and energy of teens. You can hear the clack and roll of skate boards, voices and gritty near by footsteps. The file contains walla quality voices and up close stuff that you can understand. It is a tad left heavy so you may have to adjust if you are using it for stereo.

Outside during late winter, heard beautiful birds chirping happily. Did my best to get a quintessential bird sound that could be used along side other ambiences or for transition or establishing shots. This is the product of a late night with a new keyboard and a few drinks. Also a first time recording using audacity. All sounds in this piece are bone-stock sounds in the mx49. I drove my car into a wall; and recorded the proximity alert from it. I then washed it through audacity; slowed it 23%; and trimmed the edges. The result? -chilling. A few indistinct gulps cool the atmosphere a little more. It's not the making of a corpse - but it sounds a bit like it?. Recorded late at night in my car by my home with the engine off in fog - so the sound is 'hollowed' by the atmosphere. Recorded using a sennheiser mke300 'shotgun' mic. Quiet urban residential area in tokyo at about 2 am in the late summer (october, i think). You can hear far off traffic, some night insects and a drunk guy who came to close to my hidden mics to take a whiz. Excluding the peeing guy, quiet parts are perfect for looping (for ambient background sounds in video or audio works). The peeing guy might actually be useful, so i didn't cut it out. Faithfully recorded with a stereo mic pair placed at a 90 degree angle. The left-right balance was adjusted and the stereo field was expanded later to fix the lopsided sided flatness of the original recording. Other than that, the recording is unprocessed.

4ch surround recording of a bike riding through city traffic (leipzig/germany) on an evening in late spring. Recorded with a zoom h2 with a rycote windshield in a shock mount fastened to the center frame above the pedals. All recordings in the set are raw from the recorder and will usually need a hi-pass filter to deal with the rumble. Steady riding and freewheeling along a minor street, with some cars and a scooter passing, some gear switching and stopping at a red light with cars passing on the intersecting street at the end. This sound field recording was made back in 2000 on a very late/early morning. I placed the sony microphone ontop of the car outside to record the crickets and cicadas. There were a lot of mosquitos out that hot night. One of them landed on the mic and actually bit the microphone. You have to listen close but the bug bites at about 14:28 and removes the mosquito blood sucker at about 34:28. 2016-06-01clear creek metro parkrockbridge, ohio. In late spring 2016, seventeen-year cicadas emerged in a section of the united states that includes eastern ohio. The cicadas crawl out of the ground, shed their skins, and climb up into the trees. One cicada makes a loud and distinctive sound, but a whole group of them creates a dull roar. This recording was made on the cemetery ridge trail at clear creek metro park in rockbridge, ohio. I was standing some distance from the cicada sounds, trying to capture the pervasive roar from a distance. Sound recorded using the built-in mic on an iphone 5.
