This sample was created by taping a razor blade to a contact microphone and allowing the blade to scrape against the edge of a record spinning on a turntable. The reverb was added in real time, so there's not a dry signal recording. Very reminiscent of tg's "hamburger lady" in some ways. Sounds like a human voice almost.

A delicate tinkling of ice recorded on a behringer ultravoice mic from tilting a plastic container of frozen turkey broth i took out of the freezer. Apparently a small number of free floating ice crystals were hitting a layer of frozen crystals on the lid, resulting in this remarkably musical sound. Please feel free to use as you like!.

An eerie background sound that can be used for something like a churchyard cemetery scene. Used audacity to process voices and several synthetic ring modulated bell sounds.

Blok modular set to bang on random keys/throw random parameters in various places. Sort of a kind of fm synthesis but i'm pretty sure blok can do a lot of extra things like place filters/waveshapers after the modulator but before the main oscillator. Don't want to give away much else but you can improv random textures by drawing in a waveshaper window/right-click to drag the drawing from one side to another. Also you can use the atan button to scale the notes on some sort of curve by distorting the note values. I could've added delay/reverb/eq/ ambience but i wanted it to be as dry as possible because that's personally what i look for, raw sounds that you can choose to change if you like. No edits aside from normalizing the. Wav file.

These are two guitar solo outtakes from a guest guitar session i was asked to be on. They essentially wanted that early era slayer vibe where there is more cacophonous noise than structure. I think i recorded 15-20 for two sections in one song. They chose two other files and this was the one i liked best to keep as a memento. Bowling alley- the thing with recording a bowling alley is that the pins are so far away. When you’re the one bowling, you’re not really listening to all the chatter around you; in fact your brain does its best to cancel it out (it’s called selective listening, google it), and so you really hear the clamoring of the pins as they crash and fall. Microphones don’t have any such ability; they just take in whatever sound waves reach them, and they don’t care either way about the relative loudness of those sound waves. So what happens in a recording like this is that even though it sounds like any ordinary (busy) bowling alley, the pins sound really far away in relation to the human chatter. They are recorded as dry as possible so you should add the ambience you like. How to make these:. 1. First empty two bottles of the famous spanish brandy lepanto. 2. Keep the korks - they have a very special sound different from the korks of wine bottles. 3. Then, if you're still able to hit (maybe you shouldn't drink the brandy alone and at once), fill things in a flat bowl or a plate - f. E. Pepper grains or salt. 4. Step the korks in the bowl and record it. You may also - as i did - step the korks on other things like a ventilator. 5. Compress the sounds hard but limit them to -4 db (as they sound not naturally if they are to loud).

Breathless coughing: a young adult male coughing and panting weakly after being choked. Recorded using my turtlebeach earforce-x12 headset and then edited in audacity to sound more like a man. This was originally recorded for use in my own project but i have no issues with sharing it. .

A small collection of gurgles from a small water dropper/pipette. Recorded using a blue yeti microphone at 16-bit 44100hz in audacity. Used audacity's noise removal filter to to remove background noise. For this file, i isolated the samples i liked and left a small gap of silence between them for separation later. This is a recording taken by a tascam dr-40 interal mics mixed with external sennhesier me-66. Tascam recorded rear exhaust of a stock fr-s on a dynojet while sennhesier recorded engine bay. Mixed to generate what it was like to stand in the room at the side of the car.

I recorded the end of a rain storm with water running off of the house and multitudes and species of frogs in the background. I used my phone to record a mono track and then used audacity to simulate spatial stereo. It made the traffic in the distance sound like spirits moaning. I thought it was pretty cool. (-;.
