A metallic riser that could be used in a song or to build up to a moment in a game or film. Made by hitting a spoon with a metal cup (recording with an iphone), adding tape delay with lots of feedback and short time in logic pro x, and reversing the bounced audio. I'm really proud of this - it sounds really cool!.

Metal thumpy toilet paper holder. I got a last minute laptop gig and had no samples with me- i needed some percussive sounds to tweak in ableton live. I headed to a public bathroom with my edirol r-09 and recorded lots of hits in the bathroom. This one was an -sounding metal toilet paper holder.

These samples come from a gakken sx-150, a small analogue synthesizer kit that was released in japan 2008 as part of the gakken hobby magazine series. The synth became very popular also outside of japan, mainly because it's a low-cost analogue synth with a great sound that offers lots of possibilities for circuit benders.

This is a long recording taken in the backyard of my neighborhood on july 4, 2021. There are lots of distant (and a few closer) booms and explosion sounds. Kind of sounds like a war going on! in this longer recording a plane also flies overhead, and someone drives down the street.

Recording up on a hill in anzac park near the memorial. Stereo recording at oyster cove, known in the tasmanian aboriginal language as putalina, tasmania. Lots of different kinds of bird, definitely wattlebirds, ducks, forrest ravens, masked plovers. Flies. Occasional light wind. Some passing cars ruin the atmosphere, and a highway is a bit too close. Two nt1-a microphones, steinberg c1 usb pre amp, recorded on phone.

A walk through ridley road market in dalston, east london. Lots of people chatting and music playing. As with many markets in london there are lots of languages being spoken. You can hear traders calling out what they're selling. This recording was made using a sound devices mixpre6ii and a stereo pair of fel em172 mics. Low cut on the sd which in basic mode is 80hz (i think). There is some processing to this recording to ‘normalize’ the levels and light eq-ing. I do not require any credit or attribution. Sound through a vent while contractors did demolition on the bathroom upstairs. Has a nice "eavesdropping" quality, a vibe like you're hearing the work from another area. Lots of nighttime traffic and in the first two minutes, several loud vehicles pass and you hear three loud reports of distant fireworks followed by distant barking. There's about three more minutes of traffic and then the noise dies down to neighborhood hum in the last 45 seconds.

Coffee shop in tokyo. Lots of background noise and conversation. Staff is cleaning. Espresso drinks are being made. This recording was made with a stereo pair of mics placed at a coincidental 120 degree angle. I rolled off the low end at 28hz to remove the sound of coffee cups being set on the counter where the mics were placed.

Recorded with a zoom h2 with the mics set at 90° dispersion. This sample is part of the sample-set "grancan" featuring atmos from the island of gran canaria.

Electrical hum created by my guitar lead resting on the table top while connected to a line 6 box going into my laptop. The line 6 software was also giving it lots of 'cavernous hall' reverb. Quite stereo too. It is a g as far as i can tell but slightly sharp so try shifting the pitch to get it in tune with other instruments.

One of a series of heavily processed sounds of a squelchy stress reliever toy. I ran the original recordings through s-layer, the sample-mangling plugin from twisted tools, combining and mulching everything into new, dynamic sounds with lots of interesting, muddy contours.

On a music tour mostly travelling along the volga river and stopping at various places on the way. Captured on portable cassette recorder. Was never told what place this was, just that it was the "little town' and i suspect at this point we were on the oka river. Inside church, lots of candles and incense. May 1992.

Stereo hydrophone recording of a small croatian harbor basin. Hydrophones submerged by approx. 1m, next to the bounding wall of the basin, facing the open sea. Lots of waves can be heard, in the onset, a small motorboat passes in the far range. Recorded with a pair of jrf series d hydrophones, spaced 18 cm apart with 0° dispersion.

This was originally composed at the keyboard as an improv on multiple tracks. I sped it up to 210 bpm and ran it through the vita virtual synthesizer as "soundtrack percussion", amps off, s and r filters on and lots of delay. A virtual drum loop with a human touch. Heavy beat. War drums 3 is a faster version of this.

One sample run through lots of effects, but a large part of the sound is made by running the sample at really fast repetitions, so fast it just becomes a tone. That and making the sound repeat in fractions (?) or something like that. Like one trigger is 5 times and then the next is 3 times in the same space of time. Etc. Created by mangling a sample in reaper's js scripting language.

I believe i recorded these with a sound devices 702 and a neumann rsm 191 stereo shotgun. They are long car bys on a quiet road. Lots of distance to my left and right so you get some nice long singular car bys. Maybe one or two instances with a multi car pass. The roads were wet when this recording was done.

Stereo ambience of people passing by at the kulturforum in berlin. This is a large open concrete space next to the berlin philharmonic hall. It's a warm summer evening and the berlin philharmonics have just finished an open air concert. The recording starts about 15 minutes after the end of the concert while everyone is leaving the place, maybe about 1000-1500 people. The crowd is generally in a happy and talkative mood. There are lots of international folks and tourists, so you'll not only hear german, but also english and lots of other languages. After six minutes or so there is also a police siren in the background. Recorded with a zoom h6 (xy mics). In the same pack there is also a second recording starting directly at the end of the concert with people applauding. It is can be found here.

From a distance - sounds of a civil war reenactment. Ca. 1991 near portland or. Gunfire some canons and (rebel) yelling. This part gets cut off - sorry, this was back in the days of dat. Then more individual canon and gunfire with lots of natural reverb. Actually some of this is good for convolution if that's your thing. . . .

Around midday on a hot, 30 deg c sunday in the summer. Four recordings,the first recording starting next to the village where there are lots of people, children playing and boats. The crowd hasn't arrived, so the night clubs are very audible, lots of bass beats pounding. It's a summer night in the san diego gaslamp district. Recorded in stereo from high up in a hotel window. Some street sounds waft up as well. The other two in this series are different. Both have thick crowd noise. The no. 2 track has an angry crown cordoned off by the police.

There was some sort of running event going on, so you can hear the footsteps of lots of runners and the crowds cheering them on. Location: charlotte douglas international airporttime: april 2015. A strong storm hit charlotte, north carolina, and flights got delayed or canceled. The gates got crowded and people were restless. Lots of airline announcements, people talking on their cell phones, airport electric cart beeps, voices in english and a few words here and there in spanish, etc. Don't remember if this was recorded using the zoom h1 or h5 with the xyh-5 x/y microphone capsule.

Recording of a day of the dead celebration at the museum of native american history in washington, d. C. (2014) features drumming, flute playing, chanting, yelling / whooping, whip crack sounds. Drenched in natural reverb (recorded from top floor of a circular performance space with a stone ceiling), with lots of low-frequency rumble. Possible use: could be processed for horror ambience.

Channeling the /dev/sda1 hard drive partition into a file. At last i've imported the raw file properly as the 8-bit unsigned linear pcm. This is 8bit mono 44100 hz windows wave. Lots of strange digital sounds. Quite useful for noise and experimental musicians. Interesting that if we just do cat /dev/sda1 > /dev/dsp we hear different sound more like modem 56k. It's a recording of sounds of an old store refridgerator. The recorder (zoom h2) was put into the fridge. There are sounds of fridge getting opened and closed, started up and stopped. It was recorded in a dance studio, hence the music in the background audible in the beginning. Lots of interesting noises this fridge makes. Recorded with zoomh2 rear mics from inside of the fridge. Converted to flac using audacity.

Subways in nyc don't usually get quiet. Somehow i found myself on a quiet train from new york to new jersey, not one vocal, apart from the public service announcement. Lots of what you'd expect from a train ride: squealing, screeching, rocking, and i got lucky as many stops and starts. Taken at 44. 1, with the fire app on an iphone 4. Don't doubt those little guys.

I use a screenreader, nvda. I decided to set it to the eti eloquence speech synthesizer and put the voice on the french voice. I then set the inflection to 50 and typed the letters "r" and "h" over and over to make it sound funny when it tries to read it. The first part is the normal voice, the second part i applied ring modulation with lots of lfo effect.

Two minutes of truly annoying canine posturing you can play on loop to spread hate and discontent amongst your office mates. This is a very lowfi recording of a xerox workcentre 7345 actually performing a copy of a single page. Includes a button beep at the start, fan noise, servo motor sounds, paper sorter moving sounds and lots of other mechanics being moved around. You really get an idea how complicated these modern machines are. . :). The bitrate is only 13 kbit/s and the resulting audio quality not very good, but the file size is really small. Maybe audio level needs normalizing, though.

Another explosion i made using wavepad sound editor. This time i used compressed, muffled, and pitched down beer hiss (i used lots of beers and amplified them) and a few small metal parts and rocks. For the first part of the sound, the "bam" it does was mixed beer hiss and a punch i performed on some meat. The rest is just rocks and small metal parts, distorted, softened plus reverb. I used a shure beta 58a microphone to record all those.

This is the sound of seagulls, ducks and other water birds competing with gigantic carp fish, and each other, for food on lake mead. It starts mellow and and grows into a full-blown frenzy with lots of calling, quacking, chirping, splashing, thrashing and slurping (from the fish). The hoover dam isn't far from this lake, so tourist helicopters occasionally pass by. I hope you all like it. :).

Lots of electrical noise. I got this sound using an aux cable from my laptop to a broken 3. 5mm to 5. 25mm adapter to my mixer. Noises were generated by my fingers scrubbing around the laptop's trackpad and clicking keys on the keyboard. Also my air conditioner is generating a constant noise. Every few minutes there is a neat glitchy sound, i'm guessing it's from some data being processed on the laptop. .

This was recorded in a university building in melbourne in 2018. It was after hours, in the evening, so the building was mostly empty. I was in a hallway that had lots of hard surfaces including linoleum floors. I could hear a baby crying in a room that was several metres away. This recording is mostly reverb and its very atmospheric. I just recorded it with my smartphone, but it was such a great sound that i had to get it!.

Today i was cleaning the house on a leisurely sunday, and came across a piece of thicker paper by my printer. When i picked it up to put it in recycling, it was rather loud. There have been many times on jobs where i needed such a sound, and thought it would be a good asset to record and share. Hopefully it comes in handy for others needing this element. The clip was created using a synsonics "terminator" guitar with a built-in amp by running the output to my sound card and sound card's output going into to a secondary jack intended for headphones on the guitar. It created an interesting metallic noise, almost like a ring mod. . . There is a segment where i was poking the guitar's amp circuit board with my fingers which creates lots of grumbling/squelchy noises. . . The guitar is kind of crappy, but it makes a pretty neat noise synth! :b.
