A recording of a manual typewriter. The author is inserting paper, typing a paragraph, and then removing the paper. Sound of paper being inserted into the typewriter using the paper platen winder. Then the sound of typing of about 50 words. A small bell sound is heard at the end of each line, then the sound of the platen being pushed back to start the next line, and the platen moving the paper up one line. The sample ends with the sound of the paper being wound through the typewriter and removed. I have tried to avoid clipping of each typed letter. There is a lot of percussive multi pitch sound in each typed letter. There is a mechanical escapement that provides a clicking sound as the platen is moved back for the next line. This sample was recorded direct to the hard drive of this samsung nc10 netbook using audacity set to 44. 1khz and 16 bit in mono. A dynamic microphone was used on a small desk stand about 1 foot (30cm) from the typewriter, the stand being on a different table to the one on which the typewriter was used. The microphone was a fairly cheap make (hitachi hmp606) and was pre-amplified using a maycom mictube preamplifier built into the xlr connector, connected to the mic in port of the samsung nc10 netbook. The mic boost was reduced to zero, and the gain of the maycom preamp was at its lowest setting.

January 30, 2014. A major ice storm moves in to the east coast of the united states. Sitting in a small cabin in the woods of north carolina, the sound of ice particles (sleet) hitting a stove-pipe can be heard. It's cold. It's bleak. The power has just cut off. Sitting on the floor with a zoom h4n, i recorded the soundscape. Enjoy!. - christopher c. Courter.

A room tone attic in ostend, belgium. Construction and scaffold building across the street. Occasional car passing. The windows were closed but it’s only single layered glass. At 3:06 you can hear my feet moving (sorry about that). Recorded with tascam dr 701d en rode ntg 3 (shotgun type mic). The shotgun was positioned on top of the tascam in between the two internal mics. No processing whatsoever. Enjoy, use this in any way you seem fit, no credit needed.

The sound of me walking to my electric car in an underground parking lot, getting in, selecting "drive" and moving away. The stereo microphone was outside the vehicle, 10 metres away. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder in an underground parking lot. Public domain: i have released this audio file into the public domain. Stereo recording of a steam train leaving moor street station in birmingham in the direction of snow hill station, going into a short tunnel as soon as the engine leaves the platform. 4-6-0 hall class locomotive pulling a train of vintage carriages. Steam hiss, guard's whistle clearing the driver to leave the platform, coal being shovelled into furnace, piston starts to move, speeds up, train whistle (brief), sound of the steam locomotive fades and carriage bogey noise. Recorded on a zoom h2 with built in microphones, in 'mid' sensitivity level, hand held.

An old project (2017, 4 years ago) i never uploaded anywhere before. I hope that others will take inspiration from this. This is practically a sequel to "muffled warfare" that i never released, and have titled it so. Inspired by this war of mine. A collection of sounds muffled and mixed together to create a warfare soundscape heard from within a church. A lone individual sifts through the scraps of war, and checks the worldwide news from his radio. The war marches on around them, however, and he must move on.

Wasn't intending to record this, but it was so intense i had to. I couldn't sleep with the 50mph winds hitting right outside the bedroom. Worst storm i've been through since moving to washington state in 1999. It came from the east through chinook pass. I was kind of expecting the roof to fly off. You can hear the flapping of a tarp covering my old mercedes right outside the window. The wind shredded part of the tarp. Also, the snow drift hitting the window. I used my yamaha pocketrak and edited in sony vegas adding two extra tracks. Please comment on what you may use it for. Thanks. :-).

Water rolling down a creek, over rocks and around a fallen tree, in stereo, with the water sounds moving from one ear to the other ear. We got in the van and drove down a rural road in arkansas, united states. On the side of that road, we found whittington creek. We continued and found where this creek enters a man-made underground tunnel in the city of hot springs. This sound is used in the beginning of a 7-minute video of our adventure:http://elingreso. Fast moving stream down from one of the waterfalls at silver falls state park in oregon. Water is flowing over rocks. Recorded, sorry to say, on my canon t3i mounted on tripod about 3 feet from the water so there is very little stereo separation. Runs at about -10db. Enjoy, i plan to upload more from my trip. Free to use, but if used commercially it would be nice if you can add "marcus pun" to the credits, and i hope you do that with any sound you use from freesounds. ;o).

A quick slide sound ending in a tap. Sounds like a chess piece being played on a wooden board. Slight variant #2 ~ sound equalized and slightly amplified. This was recorded using the application recording studio pro. It was made for sound effects by the sister company, beyond the mind design™ and was created for a commissioned short animation. It was produced using a metal ruler and my voice. In this version: the sound has been slightly amplified and overall tone has been equalized, giving a more refined sound effect and higher overall volume. Can be used for many different effects, not just dragging or sliding. Use it how you wish! thank you!.

Interesting (but painful) sounds made with a zoom h2 (front mics, low gain) connected to a laptop via usb. The signal was piped to old creative sbs250 spekers with 16ms of latency (i'm using jack audio connection kit and linux). That's how my feedback loop came into existance. I turned up the volume and started to move the mics around, geting a lot of different sounds ranginf from simple tones to strange lfoish sounds. The sound touches 0db one times, but is rather undistorted (at least digitally). Recorded with audacity @ 48khz/16-bit and saved as flac.

* the music is a backing track, intended for practice, exploring the lydian tonality. The backing track runs through each of twelve tonal centers, starting with d lydian and moving down a fifth every two measures (counterclockwise through the cycle of fifths), ending with a lydian. * the audio consists of a single pass through the 12 tonalities, but the files are optimized for looping and should transition smoothly from end to beginning, given the appropriate looping software or hardware. * i enjoyed making this track and found it useful for practicing various ideas, such as running scales in different positions, directions, and intervallic combinations, superimposing triad and tetrad shapes, voicings, inversions, and lines. And just jamming out and improvising freeform.

I really enjoyed exetone studio's recording of a bell found here - https://freesound. Org/people/exotonestudio/sounds/416992/. I took this sample into melodyne and moved all of its frequencies into "c" range. This gets rid of harmonics and makes the sample well-suited to use as a musical instrument. I prefer the original sample for some purposes. Unprocessed, it has a richer sound. And i also truncated to get rid of a tricky bit i couldn't fix. And i combined stereo tracks into mono, since that works better for an instrument where one wants to control panning inside of a composition. So as a pure sound effect, i recommend the original. This version is just useful as an instrument.

The sound of the bottom of a ceramic mug, dragged over the metal grating of a coffee machine. It sounds like a sword drawn from a scabbard. Recorded using a zoom h6 in the kitchen. Applied a filter to remove unwanted low and very high frequencies. Also corrected the volume level to adjust all four recordings to the exact same level. There are some minor distracting noises - i assume from my shirt while moving the mug over the surface. Also a fan is very faintly audible in the background. If you are interested in a very clean recording of this sound, please let me know.

I sampled the bell tree at our church. After seeing how much the instrument costs at the music store, i opted to not buy one. The long version of this moves from left to right, and has the single sample repeat twice. So it begins on the left, has a delayed start in the center, then finally a third repeat starts on the right. Add liberal amounts of reverb, to taste. If you use this in a film, or game, or in music, could you please let me know in the comments? i don't mind sharing stuff for free, but the compensation i get is learning about people using and appreciating the sounds. Thanks!!.

[cow_bells_03. Wav]. Cow bells!. Each time a cow moves the head and/or the body - the cowbell, which is hung around the cow's neck, will bell. It seems that a cowbell is used on a roaming cow to easily locate the roaming cow. This sound can for example be used in agriculture simulations and farm games, for example triggered sometimes when the player clicks on a cow - you name it!. If you enjoyed the sound, please rate, comment, spread! it really helps!. Note: make sure to check out the other matrixxx-sounds! the sound quality is always better when you download the sound(s)! ⛄. This recording was made in the afternoon during a rainshower under my carport in louisiana. The rain is striking three different surfaces in this track: cement, roofing and plantlife. Now, i'm no pro, nor is my equipment (olympus ws-310m w/ built in mic), so discerning these different sounds is difficult. You can hear the dripping from rain: fast drip in the background of this track. However slight, there is also a noticeable electronic note which is simultaneous with the water striking these surfaces. You can also hear slight rustling sounds that could be wind or my shirt moving near the mic (i was wearing the device on a lanyard). The file is wav, recorded in stereo at 16 bit at 44. 1mhz.

Bought an old sony walkman from an antique mall. It was advertised as "radio works, but cassette player does not play. " this was true, and i was surprised at the noises it made when you tried to play tapes, though whether or not you have a tape or not it makes these types of noises when you switch it to the metal/chrome setting with dolby b on. You can add a 60 hertz hum if you touch any of the metal parts, and can somewhat mess the sound by messing with the spindles as they move. I may upload some more samples of this at one point, with cleaner recording of each of the sounds you can create.
