This sound is produced by a powerful computation machine at cbc (upf) for the brain cognition experiments. As researchers of the center for brain and cognition, we work to advance our understanding of how experience influences the emergence of structure and function through computational and experimental investigation. We are also interested in understanding how mechanisms regulating brain development interact with the effects of experience to produce the structural and functional characteristics of the brain. These lines of research clarify how specific biological mechanisms routinely support the emergence of cognitive functions, leading to insights into why experience is so important for normal brain development. The sound is coming from the fans of a server. By pulling out one of the fans, all other fans turn up to 100%. The microphone is located above the air duct exactly in the middle of the case and thus between two fan fronts. The soundfile starts with the fans on standard speed. After a few seconds the fans turn up to 100%. I left them there for a few seconds and then quietly plugged the removed fan back in. This fan now also switches to 100% - this is the single, delayed "speed up" that can be heard from second 35. About 10 seconds later, all fans return to normal speed. Unfortunately, a colleague came in at that time and ended up talking into the recording. Due to lack of time, i was unfortunately unable to repeat the audio that day, but will certainly do another re-recording in the future. Feel free to use the sound; no attribution required. Feel free to write me in the comments what you used the sound for. Equipment:røde lavalier microphonesound devices mixpre-3 ii. File:wavmono96 khz32-bit float.

Public domain music from musopen.com Q: What restrictions are there for the music downloaded from this site, can I edit it? Share it? Use it for a film project? A: The music on this site is given a public domain license, therefore, there are technically no restrictions on what you do with it. We do ask, out of courtesy, two things. One, that you do not directly sell our recordings for profit, as a great amount of work has been donated to this project, and for the benefit of the public, not profit. Two, we ask that any commerical or derived works attribute Musopen somewhere, to give credit to this project. And for all the film students emailing, yes you may use it in your film, you can then sell the film, containing our music. It's in the public domain afterall. -- http://www.musopen.com/faq.html Musopen has requested in-line attribution in any article this file is used in.

This is the sound of an slightly old and noisy ceiling fan being switched on, run for a bit, and then turned off. It has been recorded on my cheap android phone in an empty room in mumbai, india. There is some room tone hiss as well mixed in. You can loop the middle part to extend as the drone / rumble is quite steady. Feel free to use as and where you wish.
