This is a field recording made with a zoom h1-n recorder. As we approached a nest in a tall douglas fir tree, a red-tailed hawk flew out, landed in a tree near us, and called out constantly. Perhaps these calls were trying to distract us from the nest, where we could see, with binoculars, two young heads in the wide nest. This is a recording of four of those calls.

Poking around in my grandmother's barn - building is approx 140 years old and filled with old tools, furniture and other random things. Recording consists of a lot of rusty metal scrapes and thumps, footsteps on old wood, doors etc. Recorded on a hand-held sony pcm-d50. The sound of barking geckos (ptenopus garrulus) recorded in the desert at sesriem, near sossusvlei, namibia. At sunset, the geckos all around us started "barking". A recording of strong spring wind gusts through a stand of mature, tall white pines in a midwest forest. I used my handy zoom h4n recorder, and i used my rode nt2 shotgun microphone, cable-tied to a sapling. No kidding, i forgot my sturdy tripod, so i improvised using some bungee cords that i carry with me, tied the shotgun to a sapling and this is what i recorded.
