This is a long ride on one of san francisco's trolley cars, recorded on 08/25/2015. Evening, past rush-hour, so the trolley is pretty empty. There's some muffled talking on the driver's radio. Great bass and infrasonics!. Recorded with a tascam dr-70d, built in mics. Free to use, but let me know where it ends up!.

I used some compression and a bit of eq to make it sound like something you'll hear on a gaming console machine. However, the audio spikes from the high freq took me a while to cut off. Can't figure out why it does that but in my opinion it still sounds good :).

It's a recording of a bicycle trip. A rather quick one. Gaining speed, bicycle wheels, chains, pedals, my breathing and cars passigng by are all audible. Some woman says "dzień dobry" in the background. The wind blows int the mics a bit. Recorded with a zoom h2, originally 96khz/24-bit wav, edited and normalized with audacity. I made this while hunting some thunder strikes (my bike'n'thunder series).

I used cheap mallet sticks made of rubber to play on a ride cymbal. Not really a good tremolo or whatever you call it, but it has its moments!recorded with a tascam dr 100. Roller coaster- nothing really noteworthy about this recording. It’s just a nice wide stereo capture of an old style wood-frame roller coaster. I think there were only 2 or 3 people riding it as i did this recording, as it was a not-at-all busy weekday afternoon in the off season. We get a passing motorcycle at the very beginning, and then a distant plane just prior to the roller coaster. A classic movie punch sound recreated by hitting a leather car seat with a cricket bat. Recorded using a rode k2 tube mic and a schoeps cmc6, driving the preamps hard and compressing the input, then heavily compressing a number of takes using analog-emulation plugins (including a fairchild 660) and running the mix through waves maxxbass. Then limiting some more and finally adding the swoosh of a riding crop and a non-linear reverb noise tail.

This is a merry go round that was at the louisville zoo in kentucky, usa. It was actually specifically called a mary lee we go around, created by a mary lee and her husband in 1919. I’m not sure if the music is similar or the same as the music used when it was made but it seems like if it wasn’t it was made to feel like it could be. Location: tijuana, mexicotime: december, 2016. Riding a route taxi through the streets of tijuana. It's the evening on a weekday and people are coming off work. An ambulance cruises by. Passengers are silent most of the ride until minute 4:40 when the driver stops on a busy boarding zone. Coins jingle when people pay the driver. The door slides open and you can hear people on the street chatting, while passengers get off and new ones come in.

Recorded during riding by attaching a zoom h4n at my left leg. The xy-microphone pointed vertically direction to the seat/engine, so no spectacular stereo-sound, but different sound timbre on l/r. The exhaust had a rusted hole so it's not the original vespa-sound but more rough. Different styles of driving. Including starter and switching off. No sound editing was made, so maybe you like to filter away low frequencies (some little wind was behind the shield).

This is a full acoustic drumkit sampled at multiple velocities with drum sticks and brushes, it was recorded in a small jazz bar at a local music school, i recorded this a long time ago with a zoom h1 portable recorder. It would still need some sorting and tweaking to build a soundfont or hydrogen drumkit which i want to do in the future but it will probably not be anytime soon.

A continuous blank record groove running almost 22 minutes in length. This is from the unused backside of a 1961 test pressing made for a commercial release on the mgm record label. Nothing is looped or enhanced in any way. The final 28 seconds of the file is the stylus riding in the lock groove near the label. Here you can listen to a bike, then a car, by night, on the same straight desert wet road. Note the differences of the sound duration and the sound volume. The night is quite silent, only some discreet water drops. The road is wet. Same mic position (10m high in a metelilic structure 10m from the road), same record level. This was recorded while sitting in a closet during a tornado warning as a thunder-storm raged outside the house. It was recorded on april 28, 2020 in tulsa, oklahoma. There are several very low frequency booms from the deep thunder. You can hear the faint sound of tornado sirens blaring outside. There is also the intermittent sound of panicked breathing by one of the two dogs that were also riding out the storm, sheltered in the closet. A thunderbolt rattles some wood hangers on the hanger rod.

A short clip of a recording i made from my cbf600 motorcycle gearbox and chain. You can hear gearbox wine (normal), the sound of the chain running over the drive sprocket, some gear shifts and a little wind noise. I recorded it to see what it sounded like. It can make a good reference with which to compare should you think there is a problem in the future. I like the sound of the engine running and gears, normally drowned out by the exhaust. I clipped the mic to the gear lever. If i do it again i will place it further away from the sprocket.

This is audio of just about the entire ride of the powell-hyde cable car line in san francisco, recorded on 08/26/2015. Late evening trip through the city. I recorded this while i was on the steps on the right side of the car, holding the recorder in one hand and my life in the other! tourists talking, the operator ringing the bells and using the brake levers, etc. Recorded with a tascam dr-70d, built in mics. This is a recording of a slow freight train passing from about 50 feet away using the internal mics of a tascam dr-40. The recording was made in southern mississippi, usa. The train was going down a gentle slop, around a bend. The engines can be heard approaching and passing, followed by the various sounds made by the wheels as the individual cars pass. The file was edited using adobe audition 6. The processing used was a high pass filter around 30 hz and a multi-band compressor. A couple of times during the recording clipping of the pre-amps can be heard because i was manually riding the input gain.

Drum: pearl sensitone steel 14" x 5. 5". Head: genera dry. Mic configuration: mono room, two overheads [spaced pair], batter head, reso head. I did basic eq cuts and boosts with some compression. No limiting used. Each articulation was carefully played and gain adjusted to seem as natural as possible. My goal was to also create a multi sampled snare drum that could be drag and dropped into a sampler with ease. Articulations: x-soft, soft, medium, hard, and crack. ***i will post a link to the complete multisample pack for all to download soon.

Xy stereo recording from gärdet subway station in stockholm. This focuses on an older trains doors, various steams and similar "heavy" sound elements. In post: edited in pro tools with som bass cutting (eq) and automation to make some sounds stand out but still sound realistic. Put on a light compressor and pich-shifted down some elements to give more depth. This was in someway inspired by "dead space" tram and door sounds but slightly less "massive" and haunting. Ps. There's 2 versions of this recording. The one with "nr" in the title is noise reduced so sounds like the doors and steam are somewhat separated from the background. Hope you like it.

The new hope & ivyland railroad is located in new hope, pennsylvania, usa. Basically, it's a tourist railroad that gives visitors the experience of riding in an old fashioned train. You take a short trip out (too short in my opinion) and a short trip back to the station. Since i wanted clean sound, my wife decided to surprise me by paying for the private seats on the very back (outside) of the train. Think of old pictures of presidents waving from the rear of a moving train. . . That place!. So, with zoomh4n pro in hand, i recorded the entire trip from station to station. There's lots of good, old fashioned, clickity-clackity track in this one. A rarity these days as most tracks are now put down with out breaks for miles at a time. Enjoy!. Christopher.

This is a sound of a mercedes benz 709d mini bus driving on a really hard icy road. It was a rattly old bus, everything squeaked and rumbled on it. This sound was made by me, i tied down my canon powershot a460 digital camera inside the engine bay of my 1993 rover 620si, and it's got a petrol honda engine, no turbo on this version. I had my video recording on my camera in the engine bay while i was driving. I started the engine up and took it for a drive. I simply took the sound off the video. . . Inside an intercity express (ice) between stuttgart and mannheim, sitting in an almost empty (three passengers) second-class broad-spaced compartment at around 9 pm. After a shaky first minute an even part follows for around 90 seconds. Interrupted by some road holes the steady sound continues, now with the frequency of the engine sound rising until the beginning of the fourth minute. Here the "main part" begins, starting with several moments of acceleration, deceleracion and breaking. From minute 5:15 to 7:35 the train reaches it's peak velocity, with only few bumps. After a short deceleration the train inceases velocity again, reaching a second peak, this time noticeably bumpier. Once in a while you can hear some element of the fitments rattling nervously along the track, depending on the constitution of the railways and the overall situation. During the last two minutes the train keeps on decelerating slowly and continuously until the end. Recorded in stereo with a portable stereo recorder (zoom); enhanced in audacity using a parallel dynamic eq (tdr nova), a compressor (vos density mkiii) and a binaural spacializer (auburn panagement).

I videoed this sound of a subway train in glasgow scotland on the famous "clockwork orange" train as they are called. I used my canon powershot a460 digital camera to video this, i simply took the sound from the video. I was lucky enough to get a good run on this with just a few poeple on board, so there wasn't any other sound apart from the train, the only time you here some movement of feet is when the doors open.
