This is a first attempt to record sound underwater, i build a small hydrophone according to the instruction gave us by digifishmusic, i could probably make it better but all considered i'm pleased whit it. The hydrophone was placed in a small river near where i live, just below the water surface but unfortunately it kept bouncing against the rocks so it's a bit noisy. Enjoy!.

A recording that i did on a shoot for some ambient sound while in a small 10' motor boat. The motor runs for a little while but then turns off and the sound of the boat just floating in the water can be heard. The mic is moved around a bit to get a few samples of different perspectives.

We got in the van and drove down a rural road in arkansas, united states. On the side of that road, we found whittington creek. In broekhuizen, near arcen, lies the old ferry named grubbenvorst, dying on the river maas. It has been replaced by a newer one. The old one lies rotting away some hundred metres away from its old trajectory. It was very windy that day and the carcass of the ship was mildly rocking back and forth resulting in this beautiful creaking. The occasional thud is the boat hitting the construction it is lying in. This recording was made with a zoom h2n on 4 channel mode. It was then further edited and processed using reaper. It was recorded on april 3rd 2018. The zoom was protected by a rycote windshield and my own cap as an extra windbreaker.

This was a very difficult piece of sound design to construct because of my emotions about the disaster and how the national coal board responded: 500 pounds sterling maximum to each grieving parent for each dead child, and with questions such as, "how close were you to your child?" if the answer was somehow not close enough for the panel, no money was awarded. The film scene will be handled with taste and respect, and no dead children will be depicted.
