This jump scare sound was created by playing 2 dissonant chords on a single coil telecaster mic'd up w/ a vox ac 10 amp. The two guitar tracks are panned left and right- reverb and delay are added. The delay tail you can hear oscillates between left and right speaker as it fades. Additionally, frequency enhancers were added between 4khz - 6khz which adds a higher tonal energy in the upper range of the guitar. Gain is added which can be heard as signal noise mostly at the end of the clip. Enjoy. Bainmack.

Okay, i actually did make a rather horrorific sound, despite my slight dislike for the horror genre. I know. I contradict myself. Anyhow, this is actually the sound of me going up an escalator while i was at a conference. I came home later and didn't know what to do with the sound, so, out of boredom, i made this. By the way, that weird shriek at 1'46" was actually a young child who was running around somewhere in the building. When i first tested out my zoom h5 i began talking into the mic and then all of a sudden i needed a sneeze. I was about to stop the recording but then thought it would be good to record the sneeze to see how it handled my loudness. Well it coped very well and the recording came out perfect!i then played around with it in audacity and slowed it down -86% which makes me sound like a roaring lion. So i thought i'd upload this slowed down version too!.

A bit of technical information: the basic sound is a stacked set of ‘devil’s intervals’ (augmented fourths) with doubling at the octave, playing an instance of calf organ set to a truly horrifying demonic choir patch i created. The rest of the effects are accomplished using automation of this instrument as well as calf pulsator and calf filter in ardour. This sounds much better when downloaded than it does in the freesound player. The stereo image and sample rate are much reduced in the version you hear in the player.

Just joined. Here's my first submission :). Recorded a few samples of "voice horror", a friend and i were going to make a short film but it never panned out. Basically the sound is a "disembodied voice" recorded on some tech that the entity damaged the quality or something. Used several filters and a vocoder. The idea was to vocalize the first parts in a way that it would be hard to understand, having the viewer listen more closely, and build the fear with the audible phrase ". . . And now there's somebody living on the other side of the wall and i think he can see usssss".

Squeaky audio cable-to-speaker incomplete connection. One end is plugged into a speaker and the other is not plugged into anything. The squeaking sound is made from my fingers touching the tip and sides of the metal tip of the non-connected end of the cable. The variation of sound and pitch is from moving my fingers up and down the metal tip in different speeds, angles, and placements. The sound has been slowed way down, and the pitch has been taken way down too, to create a low drone sound for industrial purposes or in mad chemistry lab scenes, etc. Anything with a dark, industrial, and slight sci-fi feels.

Warning, headphone users, heheh. . I tried making a sound relating to what hell would sound like. It's probably nothing like hell but i just mushed in some annoyingly loud sounds.
