This is a sound effect i generated that simulates the background noise of a vhs tape from ca. 1991. It is basically pink noise at approx. 0. 01 dbs and sawtooth wave at 60 hz, both combined with audacity. It is ideal for adding to video projects on i. E. : sony vegas to recreate the effect of vhs. Just today transferred to digital using my fathers old decca legato tape player which we purchased in the early 70s to enable us to send messages to my uncle who had emigrated to australia. Dad says the player cost over £30 then which was more than a weeks wages at the time. I was inter-railing around europe at the time but the recording seems to stop in pamplona. Six weeks later all my money and passport was stolen while in crete and i made my way home via the british consulate in athens.

Autumn forest wind. Heavy, fast gusty in tall pine trees. Some birds and raindrops. Soundscapes of natural white noise of moderate intensity. Some are stagnant or static and with few birds. The presents of the colourful red and yellow dry leaves that is still on the trees, creates the noise of the wind with rustling whispers. Is a constantly form of natural white noise that is always changing and evolving. These recordings is from my third attempt. I think it is very difficult to record the “spirit” and unique sound of the wind. This is pure natural wind sounds (no layering, no post-processing, no synthesizers). I went out back to record the robin and also noticed a smaller pileated woodpecker right over on the wood pile. Listen hard and you'll hear it peck the wood. Its bearings might be about to pack up, or there's something catching the blades, or both! the start was surprisingly noisy so the file has been hard limited to -1db. Recorded with a sony pcm-m10.

A soprano pipistrelle recorded in the vicinity of maynooth university in september 2019. Originally recorded at 192 khz, this rate has been changed to 16 khz to make the sounds audible. Walking on the concrete area of a nature trail on a late summer evening. Heavy footsteps with hard impact on concrete. The sound of crunched acorns and sticks can occasionally be heard and a pine cone being kicked. Crickets chirp continuously in the background. Recorded in southeast usa with a sony ic recorder.

Recoding from my sony camcorder while holidaying in italy. The 7am and 7pm bells from the campanile (bell tower) in the medieval hilltop village of sorana, tuscany. Note at beginning the muffled sound of bells from nearby village and the odd ever present birds. I left these sounds in as they give a sense of place to the bells.

The old flour mill at woodbridge in suffolk, england is powered by water from a tidal pond, which refills at every high tide. It is one of only two in the country. The sound is of the vertical wooden main drive shaft creaking in its bearings, with the mill-wheel rumbling in the background. Recorded with my sony pcm-m10.

It's just as it says ;) actually i had a hard time finding one like this, so i took a bunch of royalty free public domain small fires and added them all together in sony vegas pro! pretty awesome! you can even hear the ceiling falling in around you! i am using this for my audio drama coral island adventures!.

I recorded this with a yamaha pocketrak that i taped to the feeder and enhanced the vol. With sony sound forge. It was fun to watch their reaction to the recorder but they eventually figured out it was harmless. Plenty of traffic at a large square in central munich, southern germany. The square has been named officially karlsplatz in 1797. Munich natives seldom use that name, calling the square instead stachus. Towards the end of the recording a tram tries to force its way, using his bell for a looong time. This is a test recording of my brand new rode shotgun microphone. I connected it to my sony recorder and did this recording. It sounds amazing for being the price that it was. This microphone was originally designed to be used with cameras, but i am using it as a handheld microphone. Hope you enjoy.
