A simple 8-bit sounding "boing" you might hear in something like a mario game. I used audacity to create and edit a square chirp.

Chirp sound, 250hz - 800hz square waveform. Linear interpolation. Wet reverbed and compressed to 3:1 ratio. Equalized with riaa wave curve (top-left to bottom-right). Each chirp lasts 3. 750s. Repeats 4 times layered over itself, including the last chirp without any layered sounds on it.

A simple square wave, done with chirp generator in audacity. Starts at 200hz then slides until 30hz. Bass booster and phaser added. Then enveloppe manualy modified (enveloppe tool) + fade out processing for the end of the tail. Then normalized.

Created this sample using only audacity. I started off by generating a square wave chirp between 10000 and 20000 hz on a mono track, copied this created a stereo track and messed around with timestretching and low pass filtering until i got the desired sound.
