Sounds of monsoon thunderstorm recorded from balcony of apartment in phoenix az at around midnight. Rumbling distant thunder, a few closer thunderclaps, soft breeze on large tree near balcony, dripping water on balcony, a short siren in the distance, faint air conditioner noises. Recorded with a roland r-05. I placed it under my pickup truck on a very rainy day. The sound of rainfall has a little bit of a metallic sound as the rain hits my truck. There is also a river-flowing kind of sound as this street floods in heavy rain, and the water runs from the street into a storm drain right beside my driveway. Various vehicles occasionally pass by.

There is no compression or eq applied, and the file has a high dynamic range, so for many applications you may need to use some dynamics processing to reduce the dynamic range. Long recording of an intense new england thunderstorm, recorded through an open window with a portable minidisc recorder and attached sony condenser microphone. The first ~18:45 is relatively quieter (and cleaner), though there are several good thunder rolls at ~1:20, 4:00, and 14:10. After 18:45 the storm picks up and the recording is correspondingly louder, and the storm goes a bit crazy -- there are many very loud thunder rolls, though unfortunately there is also some clipping and distortion. From 24:00 through the end of the recording, the storm winds down and the recording level is just right to pick up a number of very clean but loud thunder rolls, with some nice stereo separation.

Recorded with a zoom h1 n. This is similar to rain-on-veranda-roof-and-window-glass. Wav except instead of recording on the window sill, the device is hand-held aloft in the middle of the veranda and closer to the ceiling. The rain on roof sound is louder and less rain can be heard striking the glass windows. It's a typical intense winter rain storm with wind gusts and driving rain in the month of january on vancouver island.

A very loud and rumbly thunderstorm rolled through jefferson city, mo. I set up my zoom h4n with the mics set to 120 degrees to record the storm. Less than a minute after i started recording, a lightning bolt hit just across the street. A lot of loud and rumbly thunder in this audio clip.

Zoom h4n - onboard microphones. This recording was captured in the city of orange in orange county, california. This is located just below los angeles and less than a mile from disneyland in anaheim. This is an extremely clean recording of a sudden cloudburst that turned in to a torrential downpour on december 28, 2020. The peaks are all very close to 0db. I opened the sliding glass door to our balcony and placed my zoom h4n as close as possible to the rain without destroying the recorder. What resulted is an amazingly layered rain track. This is because rain can be heard striking multiple surfaces such as a tree, a metal table, the cement balcony, etc. . . There is not much thunder (that's rare in this area) but if you need a few dramatic thunder claps they can be found at the following times one the file is downloaded. Note: that the rain decreases in intensity near the end. 8:09 - 9:37 - 10:31 - 11:20. - christopher.
