I was playing around with my sampler fx today and decided to rig up my electric guitar. I use a fender american special stratocaster, hooked up to an akai s2000 sampler with on-board fx - distortion and guitar metal applied in real time, the signal then sent through to amplitube fx rack on my computer with vintage crunch setting. This is a strum of the lower e open. I recorded a number of stabs and thought this clip might come in useful.

Created this by saying something like, "testing the mic" in ableton, right clicking and converting that audio. Midi > into melody. . Then adding some stock sound and some reverbs and what not. . Try it yourself.

This is a caribean latin american sound with some percusion and rythm changes, ideal for the beachthis an accoustic guitar with some distortion playing a progresion of am c e, using hammer ons, pull off and other simple techniques.

My mogalyn consists of a torn-up book cover, a gnarled root i found on the ground, and a pinwheel called a "moga. " the moga spins, and picks rhythmically strum the strings according to their placement and the rotation of the mo. This version was created with paper and glue - which fell apart, so a more robust version is coming soon.

A soundscape from my debut album, "summer crickets. . . " takes several field recordings of rural summer ambiance and mixes them with my own acoustic guitar strumming. (large hall reverb with decay at 99%, or maybe even 100% for that endless washed out effect).

Amateur guitar plucking of a tune of my own making, mainly on one string up and down the fret board. Recorded august or september 1984 when i was 15/16. Cassette is a basf cr2-90 (1 of 3). Recorded on my fidelity hi-fi tower, with microphones jacked in. The extra guitar strums near the end were actually unrelated, a technical glitch made an impression of the previous recording to bleed through. Audio has been uploaded using alesis usb tape deck link to audacity, no editing or noise removal was utilised.

A slow, fingerpicked chord progression on a 6-string guitar. I recorded this using my zoom h4n recorder and some external, stereo microphones. The microphones were the samson c0-2 and i had them mounted on two separatemicrophone stands: 1 was pointed at my left hand on the fret board to hopefully get the finger-squeaks, and the other microphone was pointed right above the sound-hole about 3 inches above the opening. In these recordings i am only using the swarmandal (harp) part. It is tuned to c sharp, but i have dropped the fourth note (f sharp) out of the scale. There are four packs with lots of recordings in them, strums, plucks, short improvisations. "short melodic statements" are 1-2 bars. "riffs" are 2-4 bars. "melodies" are about 30 seconds and "runs and flutters" speaks for itself. There is recording of tuning up the swarmandal in the melodies pack. The snippets were taken from recordings done on three different days so you may notice a slight difference in volume and background noise. A couple of the recordings have some ambient noise (bird tweets, wind chimes,)some of the melodies are based around a similar theme but have enough variation to be interesting/useful.
