This was recorded with my 9-year old for a phone app called tiddl. The app was developed to interrogate whether cats could be entertained with a phone app. The recording features torn and crumpled paper, little noises we use to attract our cat, casio. Also featured are: toilet flushing sounds, running water sounds, banter with my studio mate, and a heated exchange about engineering technique.

Here's some ambience i recorded in 2021 when i went to surf side beach, texas for a weekend vacation with family. This was recorded from the decking of the house we were staying in. The beach was probably around 50 yards away from us, give or take a few feet. The ambience was recorded with the sennheiser ambeo smart headset (no longer made) connected to an apple iphone 8 with an app called backpack studio acting as the actual recorder.

Here's a recording of a small campfire in the forest at night made in saint-urbain (charlevoix) pq, canada in a night of august 2014. You can hear wind in the leaves and crickets in the background. It was made with a sound devices usbpre2 into a tascam dr-680 (spdif) and 2 microphones studio project c1 in ortf stereo pattern. A little correction was made in equalization of the sample and the volume was augmented w limiter. It's in 24 bits 96khz , 40hz low cut.

Imagine this track when a character tries to focus, meditate, or explore his new power or skills and enters into deep meditation. You can try this on your trailer type videos or cinematic short film. I composed a track with synth pads from kontakt 5 factory selection library, clocks from wavesfactory, and ozone imager, and built-in reverbs from fl studio. Then, after rendering the track, i set them all in reverse, and turn the pitch down and inserted a new tsar-1 reverb from softube.

A futuristic trance/house vibe that i made a while back, after playing mass effect 2 for the first time. I really loved the nightclub on omega, and i suppose it sort of inspired this. This is an aif (garage band) file of just good ol' tape hiss recorded from a jvc tape machine (cassette). It's just tape hiss. You can change the freq to help blend it in your recordings. I have the volume on this at a higher level. When i blend this with my digital recordings i turn it down just enough to hear it without it being too analog sounding. Hope you can use it. It's great for soft passes and solo instruments, much like white noise of a studio perhaps.

I fluttered a plastic spatula in front of my tlm-103 in the studio. It's recorded at 96k, 32 bits, so you can stretch it or pitch it any way you want. If you want it to sound small you'll want to filter off the low end. On the other hand, you can probably get some fun gigantic effects by using just the bass, or even pitching it down. A raw recording of my korg ms-20 fs patched for making a sound similar to the air raid sirens we hear every day here in ukraine nowadays. The sound of water free falling off the edge of a flat roof. I opened the apartment balcony door and started recording. The fourth floor apartment is on the corner. The water was draining off the flat roof over the edge and falling directly from the roof to the ground. The recording equipment is a studio quality apex 460 multi pattern tube condensor microphone. It was located to avoid getting wet (!) and was about 90 degrees and six feet away from the sound source, just set in a few feet from the open balcony door.

A jumpscare/screamer sound that can be used for a horror game. I yelled into the mic, i then edited it with a few effects, then i added one of the snare samples built into the daw, then i added a synth (fake synth built in to the daw) and then heavily distorted it with a few more effects. My yelling was recorded with my phone's built-in mic and the daw i used was fl studio mobile (used cloud storage to transfer to my computer). I made this for my five nights at freddy's fangame.

Here's a sound of me opening a beer can. The stages are separated, but you can edit them together if you want to have the initial pressure release and the rest of the procedure. This is a 5 second rendering of the famous 1000hz censoring tone used on tv, movies and broadcasts. It can be cut, looped and used to censor audio that may be sensitive in nature or otherwise not fit for broadcasting. Made the tone using an analog tone/pulse generator fed into a focusrite scarlet 2i4. The sound is very clean (no noise). As this "tone" is fairly easy to reproduce and there is no copyright on it, i'm not going to ask for attribution or anything. Just use it as you see fit whether it'd be commercial or private. My childhood piano, an old german upright. Recorded using a studio projects b3 condenser mic through a presonus tubepre into an akai mpc1000. Mic'd from the top with the lid up, closer to the bass end. The piano is old and slightly out of tune, with a crack in the soundboard. The only processing was with analogx autotune to tune the samples, which did a very good job. Sampled 3 notes per octave so each sample only needs to be tuned + or - a semitone to span the whole range. It is a dark and moody sounding, a lot of character but in now way "pristine".

This was recorded as foley for a sound design / composition contract i took for a theatre company. We needed a train sound to signify crates of dead soldiers being shipped back from the front lines, to be processed and fed to soldiers holding encampants behind the lines. It was recorded in an arcade adjoining outbuildings of a factory converted to studio and office spaces. I excused myself from rehearsal to catch the recording shortly after learning a woman i'd been seeing for about a year was through with our relationship. I won an award in composition and sound design for the work i did for the play.

In this sound i can imagine a monster in a horror game that is stressed because it can't catch its prey or another thing i can imagine is that the beast has been injured and is roaming around in pain. I was looking for the sound of a hot engine clicking and found just one with lots of background noises. So i decided to build it from scratch in bitwig studio and this is it. The sound starts with fast clicking slowing down. It's not perfect, you can still hear it's made from samples. But as the sound is normally used at low volume, i think i can get away with it. Feel free to add a gate and shape it even further. I may upload an updated version later.
