This was designed for a short film whereas the subject is checked-out, mentally, and builds up before the 'snap' of a mental break. The room had a grandfather clock and basic evening white noise with the sound of internal blood flow quickly amped.

A more dreary version of spooky siren. The intonations of this feel more grimdark, in a sense total tripedation and tension over an event can be felt like the forthcoming of a thunderstorm over a hero illuminating him towards his true path. Reasynth, orilriver and losers filtering plugins were used. I inspired this from half life 2's citadel siren which contained a single trailing notation.

Made with a butt ton of reverberation decay, modifications to high dampening and the layering of many swishing knifes together to create a suspenseful sound effect. The application of this sound could be used for the penultimate release of something utter horrifying to be revealed on screen, chase scenes or simply an underscore/tension builder for the now victims of a monstrosity coming at them for a bit of a nibble.

Another of the recordings i did on my phone at work of a steel cable at tension between phone poles. Hitting it with a wrench and making laser sounds. Cleaned up in audacity as the other one was. A drain after a water flow: the water seems to build up a physical-mechanic surface tension kept mass in the tube, opens and closes this bubble-entity producing a specific rhythm in the plughole resp. It pulses with various plops and splashs, starts off with a firework kind of beat but then one hears a differentiated rhythm of 4-strokes sequences with slugs before these etc. Getting slower. Many minutes later it ends (beyond this track). The (hearable) cut is just the censorship of a small abortive piece -- left in to document the recording as recording.

This is the sound of a sheet metal that is under high tension, hitting it with a small key produced a laser fire type of sound. Recorded using a contact mic as the area is surrounded by a lot of noise, the contact mic cut out everything. The recording was taken at my place of work so it would be easy should anyone require the "shots" to be re-recorded at a different tempo. 96khz 24bit mono-mix.

This is the sound made by the needle crossing the linen cloth during my wife's embroidery sessions. The fabric is under extreme tension in a special wooden frame, it's like a tambourine skin. So when she stitches, the needle goes through the fabric (linen) and therefrom comes the main noise (like a door w/o grease). A second noise is a kind of dry "pop". It's when the thread finishes to run across the fabric, a tiny loop is stuck and the relased, making the fabric jump like a drum skin once again. Made from taking two large atx (the form factor, the chassis) computer panels (that i havent used in quite some time), rubbing the entirety of them together quite brashly (one is on the ground), keeping the recorder on xy setup in my other hand in unison then dropping them onto each other. Inside of reaper, i begin changing the rate and pitching them down and applied saturation, distortion and reverberation gave them a very clean effect of a decrepit gate shutting down. Good for trapping your enemies in a battle to the death for which the title is inspired from; one of those tension moments a person in a film/game finds themselves in.

Circle of 5ths loop compiled on a 2015 macbook pro using field recordings. Tempo / time sig:24 bars of 3/4 timing with each bar lasting 2. 5s. Or 12 sets of 6/8 at 5s per bar with a total length of 60s. Filters:hipass pumped at 60hz, -5db. Lopass pumped at 1200hz at -6db. Delay set to 0. 05s at 600hz with a 60% wet mix. Arranged with the tonic 5th as a constant with the last (fifth) 5th in the circle, starting and ending with the tonic. Second 5th enters in 5s, third in 15s and the fourth in 25s as the fifth stops. The fifth 5th begins to fade back in after 10s of silence, which begins the process of the second, third and fourth fading out in that order. The fifth 5th is at full volume as the loop turns, as is the tonic. The mood changes noticeably as each consecutive 5th begins, and changes again as the following 5th joins the loop.

Okay, about this small bibliothek there is a story to tell. Maybe a year ago my mother phoned me and asked if i could give her a hand because the door to her kitchen was squeaking. After work i went to her, went down to the cellar, took the can with the lubricating grease, went upstairs and made my mother happy. Then i putted the grease back and went upstairs. Whe sat down, drank a cup of coffee. Then i had to go to the toilet andnoticed that the toilet door was squeaking too. So i went down to the cellar again and took once again the grease. Now i thought, before i make the stairs again, i'll show if any other thing in my mothers house is squeaking. It was terrible! i swear, never in my entire life i've been in a house where so many different things were squeaking so impassionated. First off all i went back to my car and took my cheap dictaphone i use for work. And before i putted grease on those squeaking things i recorded them. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. So this are really historic sounds! none of them exist anymore in the real world!. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. But. . . When i heard through them later i was disappointed of the bad sound quality, cutting out higher ond lower frenquencies of the rich spectrum of those "neeeeiiiks" and "uiihggs". During winter holidays i processed them first with the audacity noise reduction - then with other tools. The result gives an unreal impression of the original sounding, they have now some "synthetic" touch - but makes them probably usable for funny films or comic-likeeffects. All the sounds in my "big squeek pack" where recorded in one afternoon and all in my mothers house. "tension-sounds" for example are nothing else than a junker (tin can? - sorry, my english) moved from one side of a wooden shelf to another, meanwhile my dictoaphone was laying in the junker.
